Highway Engineer - Entry Level

We are currently seeking an entry level civil engineer to work with our Transportation - Highway group in our Austin, TX office.The Highway Engineer will participate in the planning and design on transportation related projects. The primary duties will be to support senior engineers in a variety of tasks in the field of roadway design. Responsibilities will include performing roadway design, field investigations, preparation of construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and the development of technical reports. Responsibilities:Assist in the development of roadway alignments, profiles, and typical sectionsPrepare construction plans for roadway geometrics, signing and pavement markings, maintenance of traffic (MOT) and erosion and sediment controlPerform drainage and stormwater design tasks in coordination with senior engineersUtilize design software (e.g., Microstation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD) to produce plan sets and 3D modelsSupport preparation of construction specifications, quantity calculations and cost estimatesContribute to technical reports, studies, and design documentationAssist in preparing materials for client meetings, public meetings, and agency submissionsCoordinate with internal design disciplines (structures, traffic, utilities) to integrate design elementsParticipate in occasional site visits for data collection, field verification, or design supportCoordinate with senior engineers on permitting requirements and utility researchWork under the guidance of experienced engineers who will provide mentoring and support toward your professional growthRequirements:Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program0-4 years of relevant experienceRelevant internship/job experience related to transportation engineering preferredAbility to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organizationAbility to handle multiple assignmentsExperience working with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
