Salary: $51,066.00 - $90,013.00 AnnuallyLocation : Mechanicsville, VAJob Type: Full TimeJob Number: 03883Department: Hanover High SchoolOpening Date: 01/27/2026 Description GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Teaches nurse aide and patient care technician content, processes, application and workplace skills and supervises the clinical practice of students at clinical sites. Responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating didactic, laboratory skills, and clinical experiences based upon specific goals and objectives established within specific Career and Technical Education instructional program guidelines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:(These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)Demonstrates mastery of content and clinical area; Prepares intended activities using the division's curriculum to assigned classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisors; Content includes; personal/vocational relations, anatomy & physiology, nurse aide and patient care technician skills, nutrition, and comprehensive personal care of the geriatric client population and hospital population for PCT. Process skills which include: problem solving, critical thinking, teaming, technical writing and communication related to course content and employment. Application skills through personal networked computers, co-curricular activities and school to work transition experiences.Assesses students' learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs;Develops summative tests of students' learning and uses results for further student instruction, grading, and placement;Develops and maintains a favorable psychological and physical environment that is conducive to effective learning; Maintains order and encourages students to set and maintain high standards of behavior within the classroom and clinical settings in accordance with division guidelines regarding pupil behavior management and in support of the health care agency;Establishes friendly and cooperative relationships between the home and the school;Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relations with others;Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence;Respects the home responsibility of parents for their children;Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities;Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations;Performs other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the school division's policies and practices. Qualifications: KSA's, Education SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:RN (BSN) AND hold or be eligible for Career and Technical Education License with endorsement in Practical Nursing or Nursing Aide / First Aid Instructor CertificationKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Comprehensive knowledge of: the concepts, principals, methodologies of instruction, learning theory teaching methodologies and of current practices, tools, equipment, techniques of current nursing theory and practice. Demonstrated ability to develop instructional goals for students; teach effectively in didactic and clinical settings and use of nurse aide and PCT simulations; to prepare and monitor a budget. Ability to: apply modern methods and principles of education to pupils functioning at the secondary school level; maintain an interest in the positive improvement and development of children, adolescents, or adults of normal and/or impaired learning ability; maintain proper discipline; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents and students. Excellent written and oral communication skills.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Required: Currently hold an active Technical Professional teaching license per VDOE guidelines or meet the minimum requirements to be eligible for a Technical Professional teaching license by:Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse; BSN required.Must have a minimum of two years of nursing experience within the past five (5) years and at least one (1) year of direct client care or supervisory experience in the provision of geriatric long-term care services. Other experience may include, but not be limited to, employment in a nurse aide education program or employment in or supervision of nursing students in a nursing facility or unit, geriatrics department, chronic care hospital, home care, or another long-term care setting. Experience should include varied responsibilities, such as direct client care, supervision, and education. Must have a current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS/First Aid Certification and/or AHA instructor certificationAmerican Heart Association CPR Instructor Certified"Train the Trainer" coursework to be completed within 6 months Terms of Employment WORK SCHEDULE: 217 Days /7.25 hours per daySALARY SCALE: TeacherLOCATION: As assignedIMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: PrincipalFLSA STATUS: Exempt Physical requirements and Disclaimer PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees, students and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Work is typically performed in a school setting including; classroom, gym, cafeteria, auditorium and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. Occasional travel with students on field trips may be required. Occasional movement of students by wheel chairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Regular instruction to special needs children may be necessary. Daily personal and close contact with students to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members and parents is required. Frequent contact with parents by phone and in person is necessary.
