Summary:This position performs all the necessary steps to ensure we meet customer requirements for vehicle dynamic brake performance. This position is responsible for calibration and validation of vehicle performance. This position also serves as the primary interface to the customer.Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties:- Lead the technical product development through software change direction and algorithm calibration ensuring that vehicle performance is maximized and program timing dates are satisfied, for assigned programs.- Supply technical expertise and communicate performance related program issues to customers, internal team members and management, on assigned programs.- Participate in technical discussions with the customer, internal team members, management, and suppliers regarding all related program issues.- Lead program validation efforts by providing direction to drivers, performing data reduction and analysis, and completing the program required DVP&R plan ensuring that the customer and ADVICS internal specifications are met.- Support the Sales Department and Project Managers with technical information for existing and future business opportunities including design changes and all additional work provided from ADVICS to our customers.- Collaborate with appropriate internal colleagues including North American affiliate companies and ADVICS World Headquarters in Japan regarding project issues, and design and quality improvements, on assigned programs.Other Responsibilities and Duties:- Provide expertise to verify the interface of the software to the vehicle and to ensure that customer specifications for the vehicle dynamic products are met.- Assist and support Sales Department and Account Managers with technical information for current programs and future opportunities. This includes supporting design change cost negotiations.- Assisting management and other groups with maintaining program timing plans, DFMEA, DRBFM, DWO, drawings, and other technical and program documents.- Other special projects, tasks or duties as assigned by management.Work Environment and Physical Demands:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.- Some domestic or international travel may be required.- The work environment for this position will encompass many settings including labs, garages, proving grounds, and the typical business office.- The majority of work will require travel to our proving grounds located in Fowlerville, MI.- Work from home is allowed when travel is not required to Proving Grounds or Plymouth Technical Center.- Approximately 4 to 6 weeks of travel will be required to our winter test facility located in Raco, MI.- Additional travel may be required to suppliers, customer sites, ADVICS North America manufacturing sites, and other affiliated companies.- Required to work necessary hours to meet deadlines as appropriate.- Ability to lift miscellaneous equipment used in the development process including tires & rims, production & prototype vehicle parts, data acquisition equipment, and vehicle ballast up to a maximum of 50lbs.Equipment and Supporting Services:- Basic Equipment needed is laptop, Cell Phone optional: BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) allows the use of personal smartphone or iPad tablet to be connected to company apps, business cards and security badge.Qualifications:Education and Experience:Desired Qualifications:- Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, technical computer science, automotive engineering with up to 3 years of engineering experience.- Vehicle Dynamics application or software experience.- In-vehicle testing experience and/or mid-level driving certification.Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, technical computer science, automotive engineering.Special Skills:- Ability to work within a team business environment including subordinates, peers, customers, and management.- Programming language experience, preferably Embedded C and MATLAB- Experience with software and hardware debugging- Experience with or knowledge of in-vehicle data acquisition methods using various analog/digital sensors and required instrumentation- Ability to work and complete assigned tasks independently, with minimal supervision.- Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines effectively and professionally.- Skills in technical writing, including customer presentations and engineering report writing.- Knowledge of foundation and control braking systems.- Ability to use MS Office products, MS Project, Email, Internet, Voicemail, and other miscellaneous electronic devices and software products.Certificates, Licensees, Registrations:- Valid driver's license is required.
