OverviewBlack Canyon Consulting (BCC) is searching for a Business Analyst to support the delivery and modernization of mission-critical, web-based digital resources for a federal government client. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the quality, reliability, and backward compatibility of a modernized, enterprise-scale platform.The QA Engineer will work closely with Product, Business Analysts (BAs), Engineers, User Experience (UX), and client stakeholders to validate requirements, define test strategies, and ensure new functionality meets both user expectations and feature parity with the legacy system. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset, as well as hands-on experience with automated and manual testing in Agile environments. Duties & Responsibilities:Job ResponsibilitiesQuality Strategy and Test PlanningDevelop and execute test strategies and test plans for complex, data-driven applicationsEnsure backward compatibility and functional parity with the legacy systemAnalyze requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to identify gaps, risks, and ambiguitiesPartner with Product and BAs to clarify requirements and expected behaviorIdentify edge cases, regression risks, and impacts across integrated systemsManual and Automated TestingDesign, write, and maintain automated test suites, including end-to-end testsExecute and document results for:Functional testingRegression testingIntegration testingCross-browser and cross-device testingValidate application programming interface (API) integrations and data flows between frontend and backend systemsCompare legacy and modern system behavior to ensure consistent outcomesTrack, document, and verify defect resolutionIntegrate automated tests into Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery/Deployment (CI/CD) pipelinesImprove test coverage, test reliability, and testing processes over timeContribute to improving QA standards, tools, and best practices across the programAgile Collaboration and DeliveryActively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectivesCollaborate closely with Frontend and Backend Engineers during development and testingProvide early and continuous feedback to help teams build quality into the productSupport release validation and readiness activitiesAssist with troubleshooting production and pre-production issues as neededRequired skills and experienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance for web-based or enterprise applicationsExperience testing complex, data-driven systemsStrong experience with manual and automated testingExperience validating requirements and identifying gaps early in the development lifecycleFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum methodologiesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsHigh attention to detail and commitment to qualityClearance and Location RequirementsMust be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearanceMust reside in and be authorized to work in the United States; candidates in the DMV area preferredAll work must be performed within the United StatesPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting federal government or large enterprise systemsExperience testing systems requiring legacy parity or backward compatibilityExperience with test automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similarExperience testing Experience with Representational State Transfer APIs (REST APIs) and backend servicesExperience in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated environmentsTools and TechnologiesTest automation using Playwright, Cypress, or SeleniumREST APIsGit, GitLabJira/ConfluenceAgile/ScrumBenefits and SalaryWe attract the best people in the business with our competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) plan with employer contribution; paid holidays, vacation, and tuition reimbursement.We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and location.
