We have an amazing opportunity for a driven and curious Design Engineer focused on site civil design to support our team.Minimum QualificationsTypically 5+ years of industry experienceBachelor's degree in Engineering - Civil and/or EnvironmentalExperience with Site Grading, Earthwork Calculations, Road Design, Drainage (Calculations & Reports), Utility Layout & Sizing, Technical Report WritingAbility to research and interpret technical documentsExperience in preparing and advancing plan set packages through all project phases including providing redlines for drafterExercise sound judgment on design decisions and in application of standard methodsWork with multiple site base files oriented in different coordinate frames and varying unitsKnowledge of civil design programs (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Water Design Software, GIS)Knowledge of Microsoft and Google Office applications (Word, Excel, GDoc, GSheet)Ability to travel to project sites as neededPreferred SkillsCertifications or other sustainability-oriented accreditation preferred (LEED,PE, etc.)Knowledge of natural systems, green infrastructure, hydrology, stormwater designKnowledge of BluebeamConstructability understanding Local permitting pathways understanding (Low Impact Development, LA Hillside Grading Ordinance, A-Permit, B-Permit, Building Permit, Grading Permits, Fire Department Approvals) Expected OutcomesResearch, design, develop, and evaluate plans, specifications, and layouts for residential, commercial, and industrial development projects, public works improvements, or other capital improvement projects using applied knowledge of civil engineeringDesign naturally and physically built structures using knowledge of biology, statistics, dynamics, materials, kinematics, hydrology, hydraulics, and geotechnics Prepare technical reports, create design specifications, and determine cost estimates Oversee construction of projects to ensure adherence to design specifications Ensure projects comply with local zoning and ordinances, as well as national regulatory requirements Identify, evaluate, and document existing structures for signs for disrepair and provide design remedies as necessary Create and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics Use drafting tools or computer-aided design (CAD) equipment and software in design work. Compensation:The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Sherwood Design Engineers, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $97,000 to $119,000. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
