Senior Bridge Engineer

Looking to lead, mentor, and design impactful bridge projects?Volkert is seeking an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer to support our growing Southwest Region located in Houston or Round Rock, TX. This role is ideal for a licensed professional ready to lead complex bridge projects, mentor developing engineers, and strengthen client relationships across Texas - particularly with TxDOT.This is a leadership role. You'll serve as a technical authority, mentor developing engineers, and play a key role in strengthening our TxDOT presence across the Southwest Region. This is your opportunity, if you're ready for ownership, client visibility, and the ability to shape project direction.What you'll be doing:Lead and perform structural analysis and design of bridge and transportation structuresOversee and review load ratings for bridges of varying types, sizes, and complexityProvide technical oversight and quality control of calculations and design plansServe as a key point of contact for clients, agencies, and project stakeholdersDevelop practical, cost-effective solutions that align with project budgets and schedulesReview construction submittals and provide technical guidance during project executionMentor and supervise Structural EITs and internsSupport business development efforts and assist with marketing bridge and structural servicesWhat you need to have:Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred)Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license10+ years of experience in bridge designTxDOT project experience (required)Proficiency in OpenBridge DesignerStrong understanding of AASHTO bridge design specificationsFamiliarity with TxDOT standards and manualsExperience with rehabilitation and widening of existing bridgesStrong communication and client-facing skillsAbility to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
