SummaryThe Engineer - Autonomy & Active Safety supports the design, development, and integration of advanced software systems for active safety, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and unmanned ground vehicle platforms. This role contributes to real-time control algorithms, artificial intelligence, motion planning, computer vision, sensor processing, and embedded systems development. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the position focuses on delivering high-quality software solutions that meet engineering standards, safety requirements, and program objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform software development tasks in accordance with established engineering standards and processesSupport design, development, and integration of real-time control algorithms, AI systems, motion planning, computer vision, and sensor processingAssist senior engineers with plans, designs, peer reviews, documentation, and reportingContribute to project tasks of limited complexity in a support roleDevelop embedded C/C++ software to configure and control hardware and provide application interfacesUtilize model-based development tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and related platformsCollaborate with internal engineering teams, business units, suppliers, and test organizationsSupport test programs, including occasional travel to off-site locationsParticipate in cost studies, time estimates, and technical proposalsFollow established development processes, including CMMI Level 3 proceduresIdentify operational risks and support mitigation strategiesPrepare requirements documentation and design artifactsProvide mentorship to interns on shared projects as appropriateSupport cross-functional activities to ensure quality, reliability, and cost objectives are metMaintain regular attendance and complete additional duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institutionSix months or more of relevant experience (internship experience acceptable)Familiarity with C#, PLCs, Python, SQL databases, and embedded C/C++Ability to work effectively in a team environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical EngineeringExperience with MATLAB/Simulink and model-based development toolsAutomotive industry experienceExperience with embedded C/C++ software development for real-time systemsCore CompetenciesStrong collaboration and teamwork skillsAnalytical thinking and problem-solving abilityEffective communication across technical and non-technical audiencesAbility to interpret technical documentation, procedures, and regulationsSound decision-making using established processes and guidelinesCapacity to work within structured policies while applying engineering judgmentAbility to lead or guide peers on specific tasks as neededWork Environment & SchedulePrimarily on-site role (not a hybrid position)Occasional work-from-home permitted after training, but not on a regular basisRoutine daytime schedule with infrequent overtime or weekend workTravel up to approximately 10% to customer sites, test facilities, or supplier locationsInterview process includes 1-2 rounds of phone or video interviewsWorking ConditionsCombination of seated and standing work with frequent computer useOccasional driving and light lifting may be requiredEnvironment may involve focused analytical tasks and changing prioritiesWork may involve collaboration across multiple teams and locationsEOE (including Disability/Veterans)#HRUProfessional
