This is a contract to hire opportunity with our client. The Electrical Systems Design Engineer will lead the design and integration of electrical systems for passenger, commercial, off-highway, and military vehicle applications. In this role you will work with program management, mechanical engineers, and designers to layout HV and LV architectures and design HV and LV electrical components/systems and wire harnesses. This is a customer-facing role where a high degree of professionalism and organization is required. Job Responsibilities: Conduct design and release activities for vehicle electrical components and systems from requirements definition to production release Direct the efforts of design personnel Define vehicle / application topologies for device connections, specialty cables, grounding, LV architecture, HV architecture, and integrate with application communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet). Applications include: batteries, inverters, vehicle integration of electrical systems and harnesses, LV wire harnesses, and LV and HV power distribution for vehicle applications. Develop wire harness / HV layout sizing and strategies for EMI and manufacturability using industry best practices Review and implement customer requirements and specifications Develop and model concepts for the design of electronic circuits for electric traction drives Create requirements and architecture specification for inverter development eBom generation and management Create and maintain engineering and quality documentation such as Technical Risk Assessments, DFMEAs, DVP&Rs Oversee prototype builds Track all system virtual and physical validation activities Requirements Candidates must be lawfully authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future BSEE or equivalent Minimum 5-7 years related work experience Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in LV and HV power distribution design and production release for passenger, commercial, off-highway, or military vehicles Working knowledge of industry best practice for wire harness design, connectors, and electrical joining techniques Demonstrated knowledge of HV and LV system layout and schematic development Experience with development and modeling of concepts for the design of electronic circuits for electric drives. High level of analytical ability and understanding of engineering theory and principles of design. Experienced presenting design reviews to senior leadership/customers. Knowledge of design practices with respect to proper assembly needs for high reliability electronics. Working knowledge in 2 or more of the following: Altium, Capital Harness, Capital Logic, Zuken E3, LT SPICE Specific experience managing supplier quality, cost, and timing Experience generating quality documentation such as FMEA, DVP&R, etc. Must be a highly motivated team player with excellent organizational and communication skills Preferred Qualifications: MS and/or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or similar Power electronics design, power board and control board layout and development Experience with the full design lifecycle: Requirement specification and feasibility studies to component selection, cost analysis and scheduling. This includes performing detailed analysis including circuit, timing, thermal/cooling, and electrical load balancing calculations for single-phase, 3-phase, and low-voltage DC power distribution systems and HV DC power distribution systems that are in compliance with applicable standards (NEC, NFPA 79, IPC, SEMI, IEC, UL, ISO). Experience with hybrid and electric vehicles Experience developing engineering test specifications Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating design and/or production validation testing (experience using reliability methods a plus) Ability to interpret test data to support product validation #LI-KE1
