Substitute Teacher

Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Substitute Teacher is responsible for delivering instructional activities to students in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role ensures continuity of learning, maintains classroom management, and upholds the educational standards of Fulton County Schools.Key ResponsibilitiesImplement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to guide learning.Maintain a positive, respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.Take attendance and maintain accurate student records during the assignment.Follow school policies and procedures for safety, discipline, and reporting incidents.Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student behavior and academic progress.Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, playground, or other assigned areas.Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners when necessary.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required.Ability to obtain and maintain all background checks and clearances mandated by Fulton County Schools and the State of Georgia.Effective oral and written communication skills.Basic computer proficiency to access lesson plans and attendance systems.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in Education or a related field.Valid Georgia teaching certificate.Prior experience working with children or in a classroom setting.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods.Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and supervise students.Work ScheduleOn-call basis as needed.Assignments may be short-term (daily) or long-term (multiple weeks).CompensationDaily pay rate varies by assignment type and candidate qualifications.Rates are determined by Fulton County Schools or their staffing partner.
