Our teams support over 100 feature film remastering projects annually, delivering pristine masters for Blu-ray, UHD, theatrical re-release, and digital distribution worldwide.Position SummaryDuplitech is seeking an experienced Film Restoration Artist with advanced expertise in FilmWorkz Phoenix to join our in-house Torrance restoration team.This role focuses on the high-end restoration of studio catalog titles, working from newly scanned film elements and archival sources. The ideal candidate possesses both technical mastery and a refined visual sensibility, with a deep respect for preserving original cinematography and artistic intent.The Restoration Artist plays a critical role in preparing iconic films for modern audiences - ensuring they meet today's technical standards while honoring their historical integrity.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform advanced digital restoration using Filmworkz Phoenix, leveraging both automated processes and detailed frame-by-frame manual repairIdentify and correct film defects including dirt, dust, scratches, flicker, gate weave, instability, density fluctuation, mold damage, warping, and digital noiseExecute precise grain management and stabilization while preserving authentic film texture and photographic integrityRepair torn or damaged frames, reconstruct missing imagery, and address complex physical degradation issues from archival film elementsEnsure restoration consistency across reels and sequences to maintain visual continuity throughout the featureWork from high-resolution scans including ProRes, DPX and TIF image sequencesCollaborate closely with colorists to ensure restoration work integrates seamlessly into grading workflowsCoordinate with conform, editorial, and data management teams to maintain accurate timelines and version controlFollow studio-approved restoration methodologies and adhere to strict quality control standardsMaintain organized project documentation and asset management protocolsQualifications & ExperienceProven professional experience restoring feature film or episodic catalog titlesAdvanced proficiency in Phoenix Film Restoration Software (required)Strong understanding of photochemical film characteristics, grain structure, density, and common age-related degradation artifactsExperience working within studio-driven restoration workflows and delivery requirementsExceptional visual acuity with the ability to identify subtle image defectsStrong decision-making skills to balance automation with manual interventionAbility to manage multiple titles while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting production deadlinesTeam-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently in a structured post-production environmentIdeal CandidateThe ideal candidate is passionate about cinematic preservation and understands the responsibility involved in restoring culturally significant films.
