The Hire Mark - Compensation: Up to $175,000 per yearJob Type: Full-TimeExperience: Minimum 5–6 yearsCPA RequiredAbout the RoleWe are seeking a highly driven and detail-oriented Controller to serve as the day-to-day accounting leader for our growing multifamily property portfolio.This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives in environments where they can build, improve, and lead — not just maintain existing processes. You will own financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and drive accuracy and accountability across the organization.If you’re looking for an opportunity to operate as the CFO’s right hand and elevate the accounting function, this role is for you.What You’ll Be Responsible ForOverseeing full-cycle accounting operations for a multifamily property portfolioManaging month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across multiple sites and budgetsReviewing financial statements, general ledger activity, accruals, and reconciliationsEnsuring compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting standardsPartnering with the CFO on reporting, audits, and strategic initiativesSupporting property operations with accurate, reliable financial dataImproving accounting workflows and strengthening internal controls as the company scalesLeading, mentoring, and reviewing the work of accounting team membersSupporting acquisitions, transitions, and system improvementsServing as the escalation point for complex accounting mattersWhat Success Looks LikeSmooth, predictable, and accurate month-end closesAudit-ready, well-documented financial statementsScalable and consistent accounting processesTrusted financial reporting that property and operations leaders rely onStrong partnership with the CFO and executive leadershipQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA required6+ years of progressive accounting experience (multifamily or real estate strongly preferred)Proven experience leading month-end close and financial reportingStrong knowledge of GAAP and internal controlsExperience with property management accounting systems (Yardi preferred)Strong communicator with the ability to partner cross-functionallyHigh attention to detail with strong analytical skillsAbility to operate independently with ownership and accountabilityCompensation & BenefitsBase salary up to $175,000 per year (commensurate with experience)Full-time opportunityLeadership visibility and impactGrowth-oriented environment
