**Resp & Qualifications** **PURPOSE:** The Senior FP&A Analyst supports CareFirsts enterprise cost management and transformation agenda by combining strong FP&A fundamentals with driver based budgeting (DBB), business case development, and performance tracking. This role partners with Finance and business leaders to improve forecasting accuracy, enhance cost transparency, and ensure initiatives deliver measurable financial impact. The analyst also leverages BI skills to help FP&A produce more scalable and insight driven reporting. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:** + Produce and update cost forecasts and annual plan inputs using driver based models and scenario analysis. + Deliver monthly and quarterly variance analysis with clear explanations of drivers, risks, and recommended actions. + Translate operational drivers (headcount, vendor spend, utilization) into financial impacts supporting G&A decision making. + Partner with business leaders to build business cases, assemble supporting data, and incorporate Finance input to ensure financial rigor. + Validate assumptions and timing by challenging inputs and ensuring alignment with driver based budgeting principles. + Establish and validate KPIs, measurable outcomes, and benefit-realization plans for transformation and cost initiatives. + Track initiative milestones, KPIs, risks, readiness indicators, and financial impacts across the transformation portfolio. + Monitor weekly/monthly updates, highlight delays or performance gaps, and drive remediation discussions with stakeholders. + Support Monthly Variance Analysis by ensuring actuals are updated timely, reviewing initiative level variances, and identifying trends requiring leadership attention. + Conduct periodic data integrity checks to ensure initiative information is accurate, complete, and decision ready. + Develop clear, executive ready presentations that translate financial analysis and initiative performance into compelling narratives, using structured storytelling and high quality visuals to support leadership decision making. + Define the reporting structure and data needs for FP&A deliverables (level of detail, refresh cadence, key dimensions) to ensure plans, forecasts, and performance reporting are well supported. + Build and automate Power BI dashboards that provide clear executive insightshighlighting variance drivers, run rate trends, and initiative performanceusing clean visuals and consistent metrics. + Standardize core FP&A calculations (e.g., run rate, savings logic, KPI formulas) and ensure these definitions are applied consistently across dashboards, forecast decks, and leadership materials. + Support data quality by identifying inconsistencies, aligning definitions across teams, and ensuring FP&A has accurate and reliable data for decision making. + Work with different teams within CareFirst (IT, Strategy, Finance, Operations, Data) to gather input and ensure alignment. + Coach partners on budgeting principles, KPI use, and performance management under the driver based model. + Support cross functional problem solving by framing financial impacts, identifying drivers, and helping teams quantify the value of proposed actions. **SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:** Position does not have direct reports but is expected to assist in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff. May lead a team of matrixed resources. **QUALIFICATIONS:** **Education Level:** Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience. **Experience:** 5 years experience in a finance or analytical role within the finance sector or quantitative analysis. **Preferred Qualifications:** MBA/MS, preferably in a quantitative and analytical discipline. Specific experience building Excel-based financial models. Understanding of healthcare marketplace dynamics and healthcare financial and operational reporting. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)** + Ability to manage long-term projects meeting deadlines and ensuring compliance. + Ability to prepare ad-hoc analysis, experience studies and reports. + Must demonstrate flexibility, innovation and problem-solving skills and resourcefulness. + Ability to express technical and financial analysis in a clear, concise manner on both written and oral form. + Strong mathematical acumen with a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles. + Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to interface with senior leaders in the business. + Proficient in Excel, VBA, PowerPoint, and data analysis software (e.g., SAS, Access). + Good analytical skills, highly detail oriented and a thorough understanding of general economic theory as it relates to the lending and business environment.
