Job Description: The instructor should be knowledgeable in his/her subject area, be an effective classroom manager, and follow the philosophy and rules of the College in conducting classes. The faculty member must possess a conferred graduate degree in field, or a graduate degree with 18 semester credits in field from a regionally accredited university for any State Common Course numbered class assignment. The educational requirements may vary for specialty fields that are not common course designated. Both practical and instructional experience is preferred. The instructor must have the ability to relate well to the students and other faculty members, the ability to keep calm during trying circumstances and have the ability to maintain a professional attitude in the classroom. Maintaining the highest standards of compliance is expected.Responsibilities: Conduct the class in a professional manner, creating an effective learning environment for all studentsKnow the policies in the Student and Faculty HandbooksBe prepared with all material before class beginsKnow the departmental policies involved in reporting/ repairing / maintaining equipment and see that these policies are carried throughBe sure that students evaluate him/her at the end of the quarter, and that the evaluations are submitted to the Registrar without being viewed by the faculty memberSubmit information on graduating students when requestedAssist the Financial Aid office when asked to send students to that office or sign proof of attendance.Keep accurate, written records on attendance, tests and work submitted by the students.Accurately record attendance on official rosters; submit rosters after every class meetingAttempt to contact absentee students after each class meeting.Submit Daily Absence sheets to the Registrar after each class meeting.Accurately record grades and grade breakdowns on official grade reportsMake sure the classrooms are in good order at the end of the hour or day. This includes erasing boards, turning off equipment, straightening chairs and tables, locking doors, turning off lights.Distribute the course syllabus on the first meeting of class; review with students; follow the course syllabus for the duration of the course.Attend Faculty meeting and In-Service programs at least once per quarter; actively pursue professional development opportunities; report all activities in Annual Faculty Dev Plan.Full time faculty members may teach up to 24 platform hours each week (no more than 3 preps) and perform administrative duties in the areas of Student Success, Student Persistence, Faculty Development, Externship Coordination or other areas as designated by Program chairs, Director of Education and Campus Directors to meet full time requirements. Educational Requirements: Masters Degree required. Experience in post-secondary education preferred, minimum of 2 yrs teaching experience preferred.
