The Power Electronics Mechanical SME will work within power electronics core engineering team and collaborate with the North America Product Release Centers (PRCs) and with other Stellantis cross-functional teams to ensure the development of power electronics products from specification to launch phase.Technical expertise and experience with mechatronics design for automotive power electronics, interpersonal and team leadership skills are essential. This position reports to the Power Electronics Core Engineering ManagerJob Duties and Responsibilities:Lead Mechanical Critical Design Review (CDR) analysis including structural, sealings, fasteners, castings, stack-up analysis for power electronicsProvide CDRs summary report for each design milestoneReview component and subcomponents drawingsPower electronics components and subcomponents technologies review and roadmaps, regarding mechanical topics, ensuring best tradeoff between packaging, cost, performance, quality, yield and reliabilityWork with cross functional teams to define best optimized design and technologyBe point of contact person and expertise for Power electronics components mechanical related issuesSupport competitors and suppliers benchmarkingSupport "engineering best practice" documents and supplier design reviewsSupport core DFMEAs for Stellantis platform designSupport root cause analysis of PIM issues in product development, warranty/quality, or manufacturingGenerate cost reduction ideasRequired Qualifications & Experience:Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.8 years of related experience.Understanding of power electronics components/systems development processKnowledge of material science of components used in mechanical design (metals, insulators, plastics, connectors, gaskets, thermal interface materials, potting, etc.)Proficiency using 3D mechanical design and analysis tools (CATIA, ANSYS Icepak, StarCCM).Knowledge of GD&T, finite element analysis, and design for reliability concepts.Experience with PLM systems, engineering changes, deviations, BOM structuring, etc.Basic understanding of electrical design fundamentalsExperience with high volume manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stamping, diecast, friction steer weldingKnowledge in industry standard and next generation assembly processes including design for manufacturingKnowledge of FMEA and automotive quality standardsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and uncertaintyExcellent work ethic and organization skillsProactive, learning, self-driven, teamwork orientedEfficient work under pressureTraining in problem solving techniquesDemonstrated ability to work in a team environmentStrong verbal and written communication skills, able to manage multiple responsibilities, one's own time while being mindful of deadlines, must be task oriented, detail oriented, and accurate with workAbility to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.Preferred Qualifications:PhD degree and 8+ experienceExperience with device qualification and reliability testingExperience with Power Electronics failure analysis, and reverse engineering analysisExperience with PIM thermal/performance / efficiency characterization
