Position: Group Fitness InstructorClassification: Part-time, Hourly, Non-exemptEntity: The Christian Family CentreReports to: Fitness & Wellness ManagerABOUT US.Lenawee Christian Ministries provides Christ-centered education, spiritual development, and wellness services to the Lenawee County community, centered around Jesus Christ. The ministry is made up of two operating entities: Lenawee Christian School and the Christian Family Centre, located in Adrian, MI.Lenawee Christian School exists in partnership with the family and church to integrate Biblical truth for life with a commitment to glorifying Jesus Christ through academic excellence and spiritual maturity.The Christian Family Centre is a world-class fitness and family activity facility that strives to assist families and individuals grow in their physical, social, and spiritual wellness with Jesus Christ being the center. POSITION SUMMARY.The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning and leading safe, effective, and engaging group exercise classes that support the physical wellness goals of Centre members. This role creates a welcoming and encouraging environment while modeling Christlike character and promoting community within classes. Instructors must demonstrate proper exercise technique, maintain participant safety, and adhere to Centre policies and industry standards.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.Instruction & Class LeadershipPlan, prepare, and deliver structured group fitness classes (e.g., strength training, HIIT, circuit training, cardio, functional movement).Demonstrate correct exercise form, technique, and modifications to accommodate varying skill levels.Maintain continuous awareness of class participants to ensure safety and injury prevention.Provide coaching cues, motivation, and encouragement to foster engagement and confidence.Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classes.Safety & ComplianceEnsure the exercise environment is clean, organized, and free of hazards.Respond appropriately to participant concerns, injuries, or emergencies.Maintain current CPR/AED certification and required fitness credentials.Follow all Centre policies and procedures, including emergency protocols and equipment guidelines.Community & Ministry EngagementCreate a positive, inclusive, and welcoming class atmosphere.Model Christ-honoring behavior and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.Build supportive relationships with class participants while maintaining healthy boundaries.Support Centre programs and collaborate with the Fitness & Wellness Manager as needed.QUALIFICATIONS.Christian Faith & CharacterProfess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.Exhibit a consistent Christian testimony and adherence to biblical principles in personal and professional life.Demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, and a strong commitment to excellence and servant leadershipEducation, Certification & ExperienceCurrent Group Exercise/Aerobics Instructor Certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM, NSCA).Current CPR/AED certification required.Prior group fitness instruction experience preferred.Strong interpersonal skills with a positive and encouraging demeanor.Ability to teach safely, motivate participants, and adapt exercises for various abilities.EMPLOYMENT TERMS.This is a part-time, non-exempt W-2 position.Work hours vary based on class schedules, program needs, and seasonal demand.Continued employment requires maintaining all required certifications.EMPLOYMENT STATEMENT.Lenawee Christian Ministries is a ministry organization committed to hiring individuals who demonstrate a personal faith in Jesus Christ and whose beliefs and lifestyle align with the school's Lifestyle Commitment, Statement of Faith, and mission.
