The main responsibility of the Cheese Associate is to prepare, package and price cheese and various products for our Cheese Department. The Cheese Associate will also assist in miscellaneous duties, including, but not limited to, participating in passive and active cheese demonstrations, stocking and rotating product and cleaning.Our Values:Service: We will treat every customer like a beloved family member or friend and find a way to say "yes" to our customers. We will be quick to respond to our customers and use "Red Truck Service" when additional assistance is needed.Duties/ResponsibilitiesServe customers in the Cheese Department while modeling Sendik's culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their businessAssist customers with answering questions and making recommendationsAssist customers in discovering Sendik's extensive cheese offerings through active sampling and educational programs Prepare, package and price cheese and various products for the Cheese DepartmentParticipate in active and passive cheese demonstrationsAssist with maintaining the back stock including; rotating stock, dating and cleaning Assist Cheese Department with stocking, rotating and facing the cheese caseAssist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Cheese DepartmentOperate, maintain and clean equipment including knives, scales and wrappersMaintain sanitation logAssist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Cheese DepartmentMaintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and proceduresAssist with all other Cheese Department duties as needed Work Experience QualificationsMust be a minimum of 16 years of age due to required operation of Cheese equipmentEagerness to interact with customersStrong sense of team - ability to anticipate the needs of the teamAbility to work at a fast paced and efficient mannerAbility to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervisionExcellent time management, prioritization and organization skills Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of time Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
