Job DescriptionCTR Group is seeking Non-Skid Painters for a Shipyard in Norfolk, VA. Seeking local candidates.Pay Range: $18 - $24 per Hour plus Benefits.SUMMARY:Job Description:A Non-Skid Painter specializes in preparing and applying non-skid (anti-slip) coatings to surfaces to improve traction and safety. This role is common in shipyards, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, parking structures, and military vessels such as those used by the United States Navy.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, or abrasive blastingRemove old coatings, rust, grease, and debrisMask and protect surrounding areas before coatingMix and apply non-skid coatings, epoxies, urethanes, or specialty paintsApply coatings using rollers, brushes, spray equipment, or trowelsEnsure correct texture and thickness for slip resistanceFollow technical drawings, blueprints, or coating specificationsInspect finished surfaces for quality, coverage, and compliancePerform touch-ups and repairs as neededMaintain tools, equipment, and a clean work areaRequired Skills & QualificationsExperience in industrial or marine painting preferredKnowledge of surface preparation techniquesFamiliarity with epoxy and non-skid coating systemsAbility to read and interpret work orders and safety proceduresComfortable working at heights or in confined spacesGood hand-eye coordination and attention to detailPhysical stamina (standing, bending, lifting 40-60 lbs)Understanding of OSHA and workplace safety standardsWork EnvironmentShipyards and naval vesselsConstruction sitesIndustrial plantsOutdoor and indoor environmentsMay involve exposure to fumes, dust, and chemicalsUse of personal protective equipment (PPE) requiredEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GEDApprenticeship or on-the-job training desiredCertification in industrial coatings (preferred but not required)CTR Group has been a leader in its industry for over 30 years and is rated highly on Google, Indeed and Facebook for being a great company to work for.
