Position Title: Staff AccountantLocation: Oswego, IllinoisExemption Status: ExemptReports to: Corporate Controller / CFOWage Range: $70k-$98kRadiac Abrasives, Inc., a leading manufacturer of conventional bonded and super abrasives is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team at our Corporate Office in Oswego, Illinois. For more than 100 years, Radiac has delivered industry leading technology and quality products and service to the metal finishing industry. Annual Salary Range for this bonus eligible position is $70,000 to $98,000.Position SummaryThe Staff Accountant supports the Finance Department in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for general accounting functions, sales and use tax compliance, inventory accounting, and participation in month-end close and audit processes. The ideal candidate has strong manufacturing accounting experience and thrives in a deadline-driven environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly close processPerform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely mannerManage multi-state sales and use tax filingsAssist with inventory accounting, including physical inventories and cycle countsAnalyze manufacturing variances (labor, material, overhead)Support standard costing and inventory valuation processesAssist with internal and external auditsPartner with operations and other departments to ensure accurate financial reportingPrepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports for leadershipQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Business with Accounting concentration required3-5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)Understanding of cost accounting principlesStrong attention to detail and analytical skillsAbility to travel occasionally to other company locationsPreferred QualificationsExperience with standard costingMulti-site inventory experienceAudit exposureWork EnvironmentThis position operates in both an office and manufacturing plant environment and may require periodic presence on the production floor during inventory or operational reviews.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Ability to use hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment.Must be able to read and analyze detailed information on a computer screen.Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 15 pounds.Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
