Job Summary: We're seeking an experienced and driven Estimating Manager to lead our high-performing team in delivering winning strategies for some of the most exciting and entertaining projects in the country. In this pivotal role, you'll oversee all estimating operations, mentor and develop team members, and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure accurate, competitive, and strategic project bids. If you're a detail-oriented leader with a passion for excellence and a track record of driving results, this is your opportunity to play a critical role in shaping major projects from concept to kickoff.Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed for the estimating function. Assume the lead with confidence in all assigned projects. Provide management and leadership to all assigned direct reports, continuing to flesh out training program for new hires. Manage the D&P queue - includes assigning work, prioritization, and responsibility for the accuracy of deliverable items. Review due dates and communicate with Reps on feasibility of requests. Act as gatekeeper of Estimating resources and determine which jobs to work/decline. Engage other departments as necessary to ensure accurate cost assumption data. Establish contingency guidelines for the estimating team to follow. Work with Dir. of Marketing & Sales Ops and Dir. of Sales & Preconstruction to set margins for project pursuits. Balance estimating methodologies with needs of the company driven by Man Hour Summary results. Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality, and safety standards. Review large projects in close enough detail to understand when the assigned Estimator might need assistance. Learn strengths and weaknesses of the team. Ensure POP meetings are set up when necessary. Lead / manage ROM budgeting process. Arrange and manage handoff to CMT and operations for assigned projects. Maintain and improve current estimating tools and serve on task force to determine the next evolution. Proactively develop department specific ideas for improvement and engage other leaders in the organization to implement. Responsible for communicating and maintaining key performance indicators (KPI's). Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts. Work across departments to improve interdepartmental efficiencies and improve communication and overall health of interdepartmental relations. Other duties as assigned by management. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering/construction management or similar field; advanced degree preferred. Must have a minimum of three years of preconstruction experience. Experience in the construction/manufacturing industry is highly preferred. Passion for participating / leading a team that secure new business via a collaborative approach with design, engineering, operations, and project delivery. Must be extremely experienced and proficient with creating estimates withing the construction/manufacturing industry. Must have proven experience with leading and managing employees. Must have experience with sales and possess strong customer-facing capabilities. Good understanding of the design/build process. Ability to plan and organize a team effort to achieve optimal results. Must have excellent overall computer and information technology skills. Customer Service Must be oriented with the ability to thrive in a team environment. Must be collaborative with the ability to work with other employees and departments as needed. Good client management and goodwill building ability. Effective time management and logical decision-making ability. Capacity to handle pressure and consistently meet deadlines. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to travel as needed, including driving and/or flying. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
