Telecom Systems Engineer

Telecommunications Systems Engineer Location: Tempe, AZ   Overview We are seeking a Telecommunications Systems Engineer to support large-scale infrastructure and advanced facility projects in Tempe, Arizona. This role will lead portions of telecommunications system design efforts while collaborating with architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex, multi-building projects while designing telecommunications infrastructure that supports mission-critical client operations. Key Responsibilities Lead portions of telecommunications system design for complex projects Design telecommunications infrastructure including Outside Plant (OSP) and inter/intra-building backbone systems Develop telecom room layouts, rack elevations, cable schedules, and device plans Coordinate telecom system designs with architects and other engineering disciplines Prepare construction drawings and design documentation Ensure designs comply with NEC, TIA, and client standards Participate in system startup and commissioning activities Estimate and schedule telecom design efforts for multi-phase projects Review and edit design and construction specifications Design scope may include: Structured cabling infrastructure Fiber backbone systems Telecom room layouts Wireless device plans Rack elevations and cable schedules Distributed antenna systems (DAS) Required Qualifications Two-year technical degree or four-year non-technical degree 5+ years of telecommunications design experience Strong structured cabling design background Knowledge of TIA standards and BICSI design practices Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) electrical requirements Experience leading telecom design tasks or teams Experience editing construction specifications Experience with telecom system commissioning Proficiency with Bluebeam Proficiency with Navisworks Strong communication skills Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Professional Engineer (PE) license BICSI RCDD certification Project management experience Experience with Revit or BIM design environments Telecommunications design experience in semiconductor facilities Experience with Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) or emergency responder radio systems BICSI certifications such as OSP or RTPM
