Test EngineerDynon Avionics - Woodinville, WAPosition OverviewDynon Avionics is seeking a Test Engineer to support the development and certification of next-generation avionics systems. This role is a hands-on engineering contributor responsible for developing and executing system-level verification tests for integrated avionics systems.The Test Engineer works across hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure Dynon products meet functional, performance, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include requirements development and validation, test procedure development, execution of verification activities, documentation of results, and support for certification programs.This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy working directly with real hardware and complex systems, solving technical problems, and contributing to the safety and reliability of aviation products.Primary ResponsibilitiesRequirements Development and ManagementAuthor and maintain system and subsystem requirements supporting avionics development.Ensure requirements are clear, testable, and traceable to higher-level system requirements.Participate in requirements validation activities to ensure requirements correctly capture intended system behavior.Support requirements verification planning, including definition of verification methods and acceptance criteria.Facilitate the review and approval of requirements as part of Dynon's engineering development process.Maintain traceability between requirements, test procedures, and verification results within requirements management tools.System Test DevelopmentDevelop system-level test procedures to verify avionics system requirements.Translate system and subsystem requirements into structured verification tests.Define test configurations, setups, and equipment required to perform verification activitiesEnsure verification procedures provide clear requirement coverage.Test ExecutionExecute verification procedures on integrated avionics systems including displays, sensors, GPS receivers, transponders, and autopilot components.Configure test equipment and laboratory setups.Record and analyze test results.Document discrepancies and support engineering teams in troubleshooting and resolution.Verification and Certification SupportProduce verification artifacts supporting certification programs.Support verification activities aligned with certification standardsConduct and participate in verification reviews and certification readiness activities.Test Infrastructure and Process ImprovementImprove test methods, lab capabilities, and verification coverage.Contribute to development of repeatable or automated test processes.Support continuous improvement of Dynon's verification and validation processes.QualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience developing or executing engineering test procedures.Experience working with technical requirements or specifications.Ability to author clear, structured, and testable requirements.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Strong written technical communication skills.PreferredExperience with avionics systems or aviation product development.Familiarity with FAA certification standards.Experience with requirements management tools (Jama, DOORS, etc.).Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or integrated system testing.Experience with test automation or scripting tools.We offer:• 95% employer-paid medical/dental/vision/life insurance coverage for employees.• 401(k) with 4% employer match.• 3 weeks PTO in the first year.• 10 paid holidays.• Partial reimbursement for tuition and flight training.We are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment, where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
