Mechanical Designer

Your Tasks:The Design Engineer is responsible for generating and managing concepts, mechanical sketches, and drawings required to effectively bid, fabricate, install and/or commission various types of paint finishing equipment.Utilize a computer aided design (CAD) system to create drawings (2D and 3D)Interpret schematics to develop complete system designsApply SMACNA general air handling system calculations to determine proper duct and component sizes and configurationsTravel to customer sites and participate in field measurementsMaintain project schedulesEffectively communicate and interact with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers and customersControl and document the distribution and archiving of drawings and documentsUnderstand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problemsAttend and contribute to design review meetingsInterpret mechanical drawingsPerform other duties as assignedYour Skills:Associate Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred5 or more years of experienceProficient in the use of AutoCAD (3D) -must haveExperienced with mechanical layout, detail drawings, and basic duct routingExperienced with SMACHNA codesExperienced with sheet metal construction and duct sizingAbility to read and interpret engineering drawingsAbility to perform basic engineering calculations - velocity in duct sizingStrong skills in math and geometryNice to have Proficient in the use of MicrostationExperience with Solidworks, Navisworks, BIM, and/ or RevitProficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and OutlookGood time management skillsGood organizational skillsGood verbal communication skillsGood technical writing skillsGood communication skills with co-workers, suppliers, and customersAble to work well independently and in a team environmentAbility to technically define problems and propose solutionsAdaptable to change in a learning environmentSelf-starter capable of executing assigned tasks and solving problems in a diplomatic and professional mannerWilling and able to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessaryPossible assignment in 48033 Southfield, United States 91090 Lisses, France
