This role is ideal for a technically strong leader with a startup mindset who can scale engineering capabilities while contributing to the broader operational success of the business. The company is taking on a strategic restructuring, investing in their equipment and machinery assembly business unit with a new facility and new operational structure.The Director of Engineering will combine technical expertise with operational leadership, overseeing engineering initiatives while supervising assembly and production-related functions. This position is designed for someone with the potential to grow into a General Manager role as the organization scales.Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop the engineering function, supporting machining, fabrication, and engineered product solutions.- Provide technical leadership across mechanical, electrical/controls, and pneumatic systems.- Oversee engineering design, development, and implementation of custom solutions.- Partner with operations and leadership to ensure efficient processes and scalable manufacturing systems.- Supervise and mentor engineering staff and assembly/production teams.- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on productivity, quality, and process optimization.- Establish engineering standards, documentation, and best practices.- Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and capacity planning.- Support project execution from concept through manufacturing to meet quality and cost objectives.- Act as a cross-functional leader bridging engineering, operations, and customer-facing delivery.Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.- Strong engineering background in manufacturing environments (machining, fabrication, or engineered systems).- Technical exposure across mechanical, electrical/controls, and pneumatic systems.- Experience leading engineering teams and supervising cross-functional technical or assembly teams.- Demonstrated experience with operational processes and manufacturing workflows.- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a hands-on leadership style.Ideal Candidate Profile- Startup-minded leader comfortable building structure while scaling operations.- Technically well-rounded with the ability to oversee multiple engineering disciplines.- A strategic thinker who connects engineering decisions to business outcomes.- Leadership capability and ambition to grow into a General Manager role.Salary: $130,000-$160,000 + bonus potential
