Garfield, Midland, TX Job Summary The lab instructor will coordinate with the full time faculty and department chair to facilitate hands on instruction with the students while working in the lab environment. Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process. Provide instructional support to the chair, dean, and students.Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalentCertificate in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience to include classroom, lab, or industry experienceComputer literateCommunication skills with public speaking and strong organizational skillsMust possess a valid Texas Driver's License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College's insurance policyPreferred Qualifications Associate's degree in a related fieldCollege and/or high school teaching experienceEssential Functions Set up labs and materials for classroom and lab activitiesPrepare and maintain labs, equipment, and materials to support instructional activitiesEnsure a safe and organized lab environment in compliance with safety standardsAssist faculty with demonstrations and provide supervision during lab sessionsGuide and support students in developing hands-on skillsMonitor equipment, manage supplies, and report maintenance needsOther duties as assignedPhysical Demands Frequently moves equipment or materials weighing up to 50 poundsAble to remain in a stationary position for approximately 50% of the timeRequires manual dexterity and fine motor skillsRegular use of a keyboard and computer workstationFrequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate informationSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focusOccasionally required to travel between the office, classroom, and other on/off-campus locationsWork performed in both office and classroom settings, with some duties outdoorsAbility to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events as neededSecurity Sensitivity All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
