Job Description

The Yard Associate coordinates the accurate and efficient distribution of equipment in order to satisfy customer demand. This position is responsible for receiving and inspecting equipment in a yard environment and keeping the equipment yard in orderly fashion using established procedures. Additionally this positions supports customer/visitor needs while in the equipment yard.Essential Functions: Loads and unloads equipment and attachments as needed for both Company and Customer TrucksConducts, inspects, and reports condition of equipmentMaintains equipment inventory systems per standard operating proceduresVerifies and maintains all equipment arriving and/or departing equipment yard and documents activities accordinglyInspects and performs check-out and check-in proceduresConducts physical inventory counts and performs inventory reconciliationReviews all shipping and receiving documents to ensure current inventory accuracyWashes and cleans machines and equipmentDocuments equipment condition before and after utilizationAssists with routine inspections, minor repairs, and general maintenanceMaintains equipment inventory systems per standard operating proceduresAssists with equipment demonstrations and loading and unloading of equipmentDelivers Legendary Customer Service to internal and external customersPromotes a strong team environment by effectively collaborating with peers while maintaining a positive attitudeMaintains organization and order while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environmentAssists with any inventory related questionsDelivery and/or pick-up of equipment as neededWorks safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standardsPerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceStrong attention to detailExcellent oral and written communication skillsExceptional organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skillsQuality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performanceOperation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systemsEquipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a jobAbility to operate a forkliftThe ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positionsAbility to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repairThe ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objectsTime management and organizational skillsAbility to prepare reports and maintain recordsThe ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writingThe ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesEducation and Experience: One or more years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is preferredHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredClass C Driver's License requiredSupervisory Responsibilities: NoneTravel: No travel is expected for this position Physical Requirements: This position involves extended periods in a stationary position and frequently moves about inside and outside of maintenance baysMust be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigueFrequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 poundsConstant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and staminaAscend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down laddersBe able to safely maneuver and work underneath equipmentRoutinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect workWork Environment:Regularly works outdoors around heavy steel products and various pieces of equipmentMay be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidityNoise level may be loud at timesExposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipmentSignificant time spent in confined spaces and high placesDisclaimer: Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
