FIDELITY HOTEL CLEVELAND is hiring for a CHIEF ENGINEERFidelity Hotel is a Michelin Key-awarded adaptive reuse project located at 1940 E. 6th Street in the historic 103-year-old Baker Building. Fidelity Hotel has 97 guest rooms & suites, each with tailored amenities, custom-designed furniture, and thoughtfully curated art. The property features a full-service restaurant, bar, event & meeting spaces, and a private dining room. Fidelity Hotel is an homage to Cleveland's long-standing ideals. Our unwavering dedication to the city's soul is expressed through the design, brand, art, amenities, and community programs - all carefully selected to be additive to and reflective of the innovation & creativity that makes Cleveland so special.What you'll do:Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all hotel departments, including Engineering, Housekeeping, and Food & BeverageEnsure the hotel's maintenance and upkeep meet New Waterloo standardsPerform and supervise repairs, maintenance, alterations, and installations in compliance with safety regulations and applicable codes (local, state, federal, and insurance)Diagnose equipment malfunctions, determine corrective actions, and document repairs following departmental proceduresOrganize, schedule, and track preventive and corrective maintenance using designated preventative maintenance software; maintain logs, checklists, and reportsDelegate and supervise daily maintenance tasks and special projects to ensure quality work with minimal supervision or reworkOperate tools and equipment safely Monitor inventory levels and order supplies within the permitted budgetIdentify and resolve mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and appliance issues; ensure timely repair and resolutionOversee maintenance of all structural fixtures and mechanical systems, both interior and exteriorParticipate in recruitment, training, and performance evaluations for engineering staffTrain the engineering team and other associates on hotel systems, equipment, safety protocols, and emergency proceduresServe as a technical liaison to other departments; ensure timely communication and follow-up on service requestsRespond to emergencies in an engineering capacity to protect guests, associates, and property; understand life safety systems, fire protection, emergency power, and sprinkler systemsMaintain accurate utility readings and assist in analyzing energy use and conservation effortsAssist with the preparation and management of engineering budgets, expense tracking, and capital projectsEnsure guest complaints are resolved promptly and courteouslyConduct weekly property inspections (minimum five guest rooms, public, and back-of-house areas) with the General Manager and address deficiencies promptlyMaintain positive public relations with guests and associates at all timesAttend relevant meetings, including monthly financial reviews; remain flexible and responsive to scheduling needsWho you are:Having a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field is preferred.5+ years of related experience in an engineering operational hospitality role is preferred.You have a track record of creating profitable, operational, and innovative Engineering solutions.You have experience leading multiple projects from ideation through execution.You can read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.You can write routine reports and correspondence.You can speak effectively before guests and groups of co-workers.You are detail-oriented and take ownership of work.You use time wisely and are an expert in prioritizing.You have a strong work ethic and can work both autonomously and with a team.You are an excellent communicator who leads by example.You have the patience to make intricate pastries and plate beautiful desserts.You know the enjoyment of a dish comes before a single bite is taken; it is the presentation, history, detail, and story first.BENEFITSWe are proud to offer competitive wages and the following benefits for full-time employees:Up to 3 weeks paid time off annually50% off discount at most New Waterloo restaurantsHealth, vision + dental benefits401K matchingPaid holidaysVolunteer payTuition reimbursementReferral bonusesDiscounts at our shops, hotels + local partnershipsABOUT NEW WATERLOONew Waterloo is a community-centric independent hospitality company based in Austin, Texas.
