Please make sure that you are reading the job description in its entirety to align your documents and relevant information with the requirements.POSITION SUMMARY:The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher position provides quality instruction and supervision to PreK3 and PreK4 students, which focuses on the Georgia Early Learning Development Standards (GELDS).Creates a flexible Pre-kindergarten program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students; motivates students to develop communication abilities, attitudes, skills, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program and prepares them for kindergarten readiness and to be successful in school. This position reports to the Principal.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides individual and small group instruction designed to meet the individual needs of students in communication skills, early literacy and numeracy skills, health habits, physical skills, and development of satisfactory self-concepts. Work with other support personnel/agencies to promote this goal. Plans and provides differentiated small group and large group instruction based on developmental standards. Records and collects data from assessments of students' performance utilizing an appropriate database.Ensures compliance with program requirements; supervises and teaches preschool students; provides guidance to Pre-K Assistants; oversees related learning activities, implement parent education programs. Meets expectations outlined by the Teacher Keys Evaluation System.Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of students with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of students' work.Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review students' progress, performance, and behavior problems. Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and required teacher training professional learning that will occur during the summer, after school hours, and some Saturdays during the school year.All other duties as assigned, in order to perform the above services.KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor degree or higher in early childhood education (Birth to Kindergarten) or Elementary Education P-5 (applies to PreK4 teacher only).Previous Pre-K teaching experience preferred.Makes recommendations or decisions that usually affect the entire department, with the potential to impact the entire school.Valid Georgia teaching certification issued by the GA PSC in Early Childhood Education P-5 (applies to Prek4 teacher only) or Birth to Kindergarten and content area specialization as required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. CPR/First Aid Course required.Varied; supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; independent judgment is required. Requires regular, frequent communication with internal school administrative personnel.Requires regular, frequent communication with different stakeholders (external agencies, parents, community etc.).Excellent classroom management required.Applies, recommends, and implements technology to improve the effectiveness of school operations.Constantly (Daily) responsible for the welfare of others.Normal classroom/school setting.Must be able to stand and walk up to 8 hours per day.The 2026-2027 salary scales are not yet available.
