This position supports the environmental testing operations and analytical services provided by the MDH Public Health Laboratory. Responsibilities Include: + Respond to routine queries from clients about samples and lab reports. + Track internal sample flow and the reporting of analytical results to clients. + Check incoming work orders for accuracy and resolve problems promptly. + Train collectors and project managers to use client templates such as bottle-order forms, chain of custody forms, sample analysis request forms, etc. + Track the progress of projects within the Public Health Laboratory, ensuring that project deliverables are of high quality. + Implement systematic, continuous quality improvement. + Establish and maintain productive relationships with clients. MDH relies heavily on grant funding, in addition to state appropriated dollars. As an agency, we continually monitor funding levels and navigate some degree of uncertainty related to grant cycles and the impact of the grant funding on program priorities. This position is currently funded and approved to be filled. While the position is funded at this time, future funding is dependent on the continuation of our funding sources. The Minnesota Department of Health works proactively to sustain programs and maintain our workforce to avoid reductions in force to the very best of our ability. In the event of a loss of funding resulting in a necessary workforce reduction, that process is governed by our collective bargaining agreements and compensation plans. If you have already applied, you do not need to apply again. **Minimum Qualifications** **To facilitate proper years of service crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held:** + Two (2) years of laboratory experience in an analytical or research setting. + Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental health, statistics, or related field. Applicants may be asked to provide evidence of course completion at time of interview. **Minimum qualifications to be assessed during the interview process** : + The ability to work independently and collaboratively to problem solve, and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. + Technical knowledge and proficiency of analytical methods. + Knowledge of the theories and principles used in the analytical procedures performed. + The ability to follow quality control procedures and protocols to ensure accuracy of results using documented methods. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment. + Demonstrated ability to recognize and address problems. + Experience successfully managing laboratory operations and projects with precise attention to detail. + Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and maintain partnerships with laboratory clients. **Additional Requirements** + Must successfully pass a background and reference check. + Under U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services regulations, the successful candidate must be able to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins.
