Staff Accountant - Job DescriptionSummary: The Staff Accountant supports daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance with established standards. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in grant accounting and higher education environments.Key Responsibilities:Assist with general ledger activities, including account and bank reconciliationsSupport preparation of financial reports and ensure accuracy of financial dataProcess accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchase card transactionsMaintain compliance with GAAP and internal accounting proceduresUtilize accounting systems and Microsoft Excel for tracking and reportingPerform additional accounting and administrative tasks as assignedQualifications:Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principlesExperience with grant accounting and higher education environments preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office, especially ExcelStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlinesEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to handle confidential information with discretionEducation & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Accounting requiredMinimum of 2 years of accounting or finance experience required Ascendo is a certified minority owned staffing firm, and we welcome and celebrate diversity.
