Position Type: Student Support ServicesDate Posted: 2/23/2026Location: Marengo-Union Elementary CSD #165District: Marengo-Union Elementary Consolidated School District #165Summary:The BCBA will be responsible for the design, creation, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of evidence-based district programs supporting non-academic student success indicators, such as social emotional learning programs and restorative behavioral practices. They will help to develop the skills, values, and attitudes necessary to build student success in their schools, homes, and the larger community. A BCBA provides research based training and assistance to the district to ensure all staff and administrators have the training and skills needed to effectively address student's social emotional needs and behaviors that negatively impact the learning environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide comprehensive behavioral assessment and consultation services for students with severe or persistent behavioral challenges.Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to assist in the understanding of the relationship between the student's behavior and the purpose of the behavior in relationship to environmental factors. Consult and collaborate with school based behavior teams to design, implement, train and evaluate formal behavior intervention plans (BIPs). Complete a BIP designed to outline specific prevention and response strategies for the identified behavior. The behavior analyst ensures that all elements of the BIP are respectful, appropriate, and cause the least amount of disruption to the school structure as possible. Use research based interventions to support learning curriculum and the environmentProvide collaborative consultation with day to day/in the moment coaching with staffEfficiently utilize applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques as appropriate, classroom management strategies, individual behavior intervention plan development, data collection techniques, discrete trial training, and strategies for positive behavior support. Work collaboratively with educators, administrators, other school personnel, and families to ensure that students with severe behavior difficulties receive effective interventions. Assist school staff in classroom setup, instructional methods and staff training.Evaluate, observe, support and train students and staff in the development and implementation of behavioral strategies and programs, as appropriate and necessary.Support learning and facilitate opportunities for a student's integration into general education classrooms.Review data and programming regularly to identify areas for improvement and growth.Provide professional development opportunities for certified and non-certified staff and participate in district and school level committees/teams.Collaborate with outside BCBAs and other therapistsConsult with building and/or district administrators on matters relating to attendance, misconduct, and incidents to look for trends in order to assist schools in managing these issues in a proactive manner.Collaborate with school teams and assist with strategic planning to ensure better student outcomes.Use ongoing assessments to maintain a record of student progress.Establish and maintain a deep understanding of SEL through personal professional development including conferences, seminars, workshops, and professional organizations, including staying up to date on the latest research and best practices in the field.Problem solve individual cases as assigned by the special education administrator. This may include observation of a student, consultation with staff, parents, administrators; working with the student, staff, and parents; identifying appropriate starts and tools to implement and provide professional development on data collection and analysis. Will be called on during the school day to assist in crisis situations as they arise.Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. Maintain high professional ethics and confidentiality.Work in a collaborative and professional manner with all constituents.Perform other tasks or services consistent with the job's goal of this position. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, Master's preferredValid Illinois Professional Educator License with special education endorsementPrefer a minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with students with special needsBCBA - or currently enrolled in a program, or will begin a program within the first year of hireAdaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composureExperience in developing and implementing an FBA and BIPProficient with technology and various apps/programs to efficiently collect and analyze dataAbility to effectively prioritize and address multiple tasks at any given timeAbility to problem solve the needs of students and staff in a solution focused mannerExceptional people skills; ability to facilitate crucial conversations with staff and parents
