OverviewLooking to build a portfolio of meaningful, published work-not just class assignments? Animal Friends is seeking a Copywriter Intern to join our Communications team and help craft compelling, mission-driven storytelling across digital, print and media platforms. This role is designed for strong writers who are ready to contribute ideas, refine their voice and see their work reach a real audience.ResponsibilitiesWrite and edit engaging, on-brand copy for social media, email campaigns, website content, print materials and press releasesDevelop messaging and creative concepts for adoption promotions, fundraising campaigns and special eventsContribute to long-form storytelling, including feature articles and campaign narrativesProofread and refine content to ensure clarity, accuracy and consistency in voice and toneCollaborate with designers and team members to bring campaigns to lifeWhat You'll GainPublished, portfolio-quality writing samples across multiple channelsExperience writing within a defined brand voice for real audiencesExposure to campaign development, messaging strategy and nonprofit communicationsDirect feedback and mentorship from communications professionalsRequirements Student (18+) in communications, journalism, English, marketing or related fieldStrong writing portfolio demonstrating versatility in tone and formatExcellent editing and proofreading skills with close attention to detailAbility to adapt voice for different audiences, platforms and campaign goalsFamiliarity with AP style (or willingness to learn quickly)Ability to manage multiple deadlines and take initiative on projectsCreative thinker who can both generate ideas and execute them effectivelyStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a diverse teamComfortable around dogs, cats and rabbitsGenuine interest in Animal Friends' missionTo Apply:Please submit 2-3 writing samples (published or unpublished) that demonstrate your ability to write for different audiences or formats.Additional DetailsWeekday schedule, with occasional evenings/weekends for eventsLocal travel may be required; reliable transportation preferredThis is an unpaid internship; no housing or travel stipends are providedAcademic credit may be available depending on your college or university Please note this is an unpaid internship.
