Position Type: Community Education/Community Education for Early Learning PreschoolDate Posted: 2/2/2026Location: Orono Schools Discovery CenterDate Available: ASAPClosing Date: Open Until FilledEarly Learning Student Support PositionJob Summary: Be a part of the Orono Early Learning team working to build a solid foundation for children's future school and life success! The Early Learning Student and Program Support Specialist works under the direction of the Early Learning Coordinator to provide support to teachers as well as develop research-based interventions for students to work on necessary skills. In addition to student-facing support, this role ensures smooth operation of the program by providing vital front office coverage and administrative assistance. The ideal candidate has a passion for supporting young children and their families and working with the team in a collaborative environment.The following list is intended to be descriptive and not restrictive in nature.Provides assistance, guidance and support to early learning teachers to ensure quality classroom management and to address student individual needs.Collaborates with the Early Learning Coordinator and Early Childhood Special Education staff.Develops research-based intervention strategies for teachers to assist with academic and behavioral support for students.Leads small groups and individual sessions with students to work on necessary skills.Assists with the implementation and sustainability of program-adopted curriculum and initiatives.Supports program logistics by assisting with administrative tasks and providing front office coverage as needed.Qualifications:An Early Childhood B-3 teaching license, issued through Minnesota PELSB is highly preferred.Working knowledge of the Early Childhood Indicators of Progress Birth-5, best practices and strategies, and individual learning styles.Ability to work effectively with colleagues.Demonstration of a warm and welcoming rapport with all children and caregivers.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Excellent interpersonal skills.Evidence of self-motivation, enthusiasm, patience, timeliness, problem solving and flexibility.Experience and excellent references for helping to create an early childhood classroom that fosters social emotional and academic growth.Organized, flexible and able to handle multiple priorities typical in a public school district, 4-star Parent Aware, NAEYC Accredited program.COMPENSATIONHourly Wage: $28-$30/hr.
