About the Role Enabled Energy is a seeking an Estimator to join our Development Team. We are looking for a full-time candidate looking to grow your career in a fast-expanding industry. The Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and supporting the bidding process for complex data center retrofit projects.Travel: Across United States & Canada is required approximately 25% of the time. Candidates will be expected to visit project sites for assessment, attend bid meetings, and collaborate with local customer teams and subcontractors as needed.Key Responsibilities Cost Estimation and AnalysisDevelop comprehensive cost estimates for data center retrofit projects. Analyze project specifications, drawings, and requirements to determine material, labor, and equipment costs. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and create accurate pricing models. Bid Preparation and ManagementCoordinate with subcontractors to obtain pricing, evaluate proposals/SOWs, and ensure completeness of proposals. Maintain cost tracking systems and documentation. Project Assessment and Site EvaluationConduct site visits to assess existing conditions and identify potential challenges or opportunities. Document findings and incorporate site-specific factors into cost estimates. Collaborate with engineering teams on technical solutions. Subcontractor and Vendor RelationsIdentify, qualify, maintain and manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers across EE's service areas. Request and evaluate quotes, negotiate pricing, and maintain current cost databases. Market Research and Cost Database ManagementMonitor market trends, material costs, and labor rates. Create, maintain, and continuously update comprehensive cost databases, unit prices, and historical project data. Develop standardized pricing templates and estimating tools for data center retrofit projects. Research new products, technologies, and installation methods affecting project costs. Proposal Support and Client CommunicationSupport business development team with technical and cost information. Participate in client meetings, estimate presentations, and proposal reviews. Provide value engineering recommendations and alternative solutions. Risk Assessment and Contingency PlanningIdentify potential project risks and incorporate appropriate contingencies into estimates. Analyze contract terms, specifications, and scope changes that may impact costs. Provide recommendations for risk mitigation strategies. Mentoring and Knowledge Transfer (Part-time/Consultant Role)For senior part-time/consultant candidates: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimating staff. Share industry knowledge, best practices, and technical expertise. Support training initiatives and help develop internal estimating capabilities and processes. General DutiesUnderstand and apply Enabled Energy's mission and core solutions in all estimating activities. Travel as needed to support project assessment and client relationships.QualificationsMinimum 3-5 years of construction estimating experience, preferably in commercial or industrial projectsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferredEagerness to learn and grow within the data center retrofit industryAll Candidates:Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel, and familiarity with estimating database managementAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentsKnowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment costsUnderstanding of electrical systems, HVAC equipment, and building automation systemsTechnical proficiency in construction methods and data center systemsProficiency with estimating software and database managementAbility to create and maintain comprehensive cost databasesPreferred: Data Center specific certifications (DCEP, CDCP, etc.)Experience with data center or mission-critical facility projectsHVAC and Mechanical systems experienceKnowledge of sustainable building practices and energy optimizationWhat We Hope You Will Bring to Enabled EnergyDetail-Oriented with Strategic Vision: Meticulous attention to technical specifications and scope details while maintaining awareness of overall project goals (energy savings, uptime requirements, client priorities) and how individual cost items roll up into total cost of ownership. The annual salary range for this position will be $60,000-$85,000/year, based on experience.Additionally, this position is eligible for discretionary quarterly performance bonuses.
