BAE Systems is hiring for an Occupational Safety Specialist to support at its site in Louisville, Kentucky. In this role as a Safety Specialist, you will support first shift in its safety endeavors. You will report directly to the Safety & Health Manager. Working often independently, you'll provide technical and professional safety health support to BAE Systems staff to help improve the safety and health of our employees, ensure environmental risks are mitigated, and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities: + Work with management, staff, and hourly employees to promote the development of a safety, health, and environmental culture that exhibits the behaviors and processes outlined in the BAE Systems SHE management systems. + Support incident investigations with line management and various levels of professionals within the organization. + Work within a team to perform Root Cause Analysis and utilize defined methodologies to identify causes and preventive measures. + Report or review findings from incident investigations, inspections, or other applicable information to senior leadership. + Inspect facilities, machinery, and equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety and health regulation compliance. + Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment in order to determine if safety health and environmental requirements have been met. + Prepare and update procedures and work instructions. + Assist with the on-going management of the SHE Environmental Management System. + Participate with corporate SHE reviews and inspections. + Conduct or direct testing of air quality, noise, and temperature levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations. + Confer with health professionals to assess health risks and develop ways to manage health issues related to occupational exposures. + Assist with required company and regulatory training. + Participate in interactions with Federal, State, and Local regulators during inspections. + Gain knowledge and work with BAE Systems computer based program for managing Safety Data Sheets (SDS). + Other duties required to fulfill Company and regulatory SHE requirements. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in an Environmental, Safety, or equivalent field, and two years of related experience, or the overall equivalent. + Note: There is flexibility to consider more junior candidates for this opportunity. + Knowledgeable in EHS regulations and modern EHS management principles. + Possess basic knowledge of Environmental and Safety Management System (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001). + Excellent communication skills in order to deliver complex information effectively to others, written and verbal. + Ability to prepare survey analyses data for presentation. + With minimal supervision, able to take self-initiative as an individual contributor, while also able to work in a team environment. + Exceptional time management and organizational skills. + Ability to help support a culture of safety and the processes that lead to excellent SHE performance. + Computer skills to be able to work proficiently with Microsoft Office and related industry software applications. **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Sound knowledge of engineering, chemical, physical, and/or biological sciences. + Previous exposure to a union environment. + Experience working within a manufacturing or construction environment helpful. **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $60076 - $102130 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
