Operating with general guidance, this role applies professional judgment to analyze legislative and regulatory developments, manage defined advocacy initiatives, and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. As a key contributor within Government Affairs, the role owns discrete policy issues or workstreams and is accountable for delivering high-quality analysis, recommendations, and execution that align with Talcott's business objectives and regulatory obligations.Responsibilities: Policy Analysis & Issue Ownership: Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments impacting Talcott; independently assess risks and opportunities, develop recommendations, and own assigned policy issues from identification through execution, escalating significant matters as needed.Advocacy Execution: Support and execute advocacy strategies in partnership with the Head of Government Affairs; represent Talcott in meetings and working groups with legislators, regulators, trade associations, and external partners; prepare advocacy materials, briefings, and talking points.Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Build and maintain effective relationships with key government officials, trade associations, consultants, and advocacy partners; serve as a primary point of contact for assigned relationships to ensure consistent communication and follow-through.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Legal, Compliance, business leaders, and executive stakeholders to align on policy positions and regulatory interpretations; translate complex policy developments into clear, actionable insights for internal audiences.Process Ownership & Judgment: Own and continuously improve defined Government Affairs processes (e.g., issue tracking and reporting); apply sound judgment to prioritize work, manage multiple initiatives, and use resources efficiently.Decision-Making Scope: Exercise independent judgment within established advocacy strategies; determine execution approach for assigned workstreams and provide informal guidance or knowledge-sharing to peers, without direct people management.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required; advanced degree preferred.Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in government affairs, public policy, advocacy, legislative support, political campaigns, or related roles.Demonstrated understanding of legislative and regulatory processes and advocacy mechanisms.Proven ability to analyze policy issues, assess business impact, and develop practical recommendations.Experience collaborating with trade associations, consultants, and external partners.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues clearly.High ethical standards and sound judgment in representing the company. Compensation:This range represents the minimum and maximum annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range. The base pay is based on factors including but not limited to experience, competence, and demonstration of proficiencies essential for the role. The base pay is just one component of Talcott's total annual compensation for employees.
