Salary: $20.81 HourlyLocation : Pittsburg, CAJob Type: SeasonalJob Number: 547Department: City Manager's OfficeDivision: Environmental ServicesOpening Date: 03/04/2026Closing Date: 3/31/2026 5:00 PM Pacific Position InformationThe City of Pittsburg's Environment Services Division is seeking to fill several seasonal positions for Administrative Associate for an Art/Litter Abatement and Art Installation Program for Local At-Risk Youth.This program is youth centered for eligible, at-risk youth in Pittsburg who face barriers due to income or other substantial circumstances. Program participants will be responsible for designing guidelines, social media promotion, monitoring and coordinating programming for a litter abatement campaign which will include two urban creativity walls at East Sante Fe and Willow Pass Road. This program will contribute to public art and beautification initiatives that promote civic engagement and community pride.Participants will develop a variety of skills critical to their future career endeavors through hands-on experience to include:Teamwork and collaboration with other program participantsPromoting environmental awareness and civic engagementAttending internal meetings and community outreach eventsHelping prepare reports, presentations, or communicationsBuilding leadership skillsLearning about municipal operations and public service functionsNetworking with other City Staff and gaining exposure to City careersQualificationsCurrent enrollment in Pittsburg or Black Diamond High School (or recent graduate)Good communication skillsAbility to work as part of a teamDependable, motivated, and eager to learnAble to follow instructions, policies, and safety proceduresFamiliarity with Microsoft Office Suite is a plusInterest in public service including arts, environmental, community, and economic developmentValues making a difference in the community Selected candidates are limited to work up to 500 hours for the program.About the Environmental Services DivisionEnvironmental Services leads implementation of the City's Sustainability Plan (Climate Action Plan). With the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the City's environment, the division develops and implements programs to address environmental hazards like brownfields, energy inefficiencies, landfilled waste, and more. The Division manages all municipal solid waste generated in Pittsburg through education, compliance, safety, and enforcement programs. Pittsburg has its own Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) for enforcement and permitting solid waste facilities and leads the Emergency Operation Center and employee safety training programs.About PittsburgThe City of Pittsburg is a culturally rich and diverse community of over 74,000 residents and expected to grow to 90,000 in the next 20 years.
