St. Anne Institute Job Description I. TITLE: Teacher Assistant / Teacher's Aide - Early Childhood Education II. SUPERVISOR: Program Administrator- Early Childhood Education and classroom teachers III. HOURS PER WEEK: 35 - 40 IV. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent Experience working with pre-school children preferred. V. FUNCTIONS: To assist teachers in assigned instructional area and in the management of individual and small group activities VI. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Ensure a safe, secure, and therapeutic classroom environment for all students • Demonstrate an understanding of the need for establishing therapeutic relationships with students, assist with managing the classroom environment • Work with classroom teachers in accordance with general classroom guidelines, New York Education Department, Albany City School District, County schools and The Office of Family and Child Services (OCFS) • Assist with art preparation (cutting, laminating, etc.) classroom activities and clerical duties (photocopying, filing etc.) • Supervision of nap time • Meet with the assigned teacher to determine both long term plans and plans for the upcoming day and week. • Use open, honest, professional communication skills, both verbally and in writing. • Communicate student concerns and issues to appropriate staff. • Monitor instructional and school activities under the supervision of the classroom teacher. • Diapering, toileting supervision and assistance • Monitor the students during meals and snacks- breakfast, lunch, after school/aftercare • Attend orientation, training sessions and in-service meetings in person, virtually or pre-recorded as scheduled • Implement agency practices including policies, procedures, routine, expectations and perform additional duties as assigned I have read and understand my job description duties: Teacher Assistant/Teacher's Aide Early Childhood Education.
