DescriptionMilwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsin's largest and most diverse technical college, offering 170+ high-quality programs that connect students to a career in as little as one to two years. Learn more about MATC at the supervision of Dean of STEM, to teach classroom and laboratory courses in Chemistry. Related duties may include curriculum development; maintenance of science laboratories; participation in grant-related activities; active participation in departmental, divisional, and MATC- and WTCS-wide activities to promote teaching and learning; and other duties as assigned. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities. Manage the classroom/laboratory. Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation. Manage equipment, supplies and materials. Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues. Collaborate with advisory committee in program area. Attend departmental and institutional meetings. Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC. Support student organizations and activities. Develop relationships with business and industry. Complete program evaluation and follow-up. Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsEducational Requirements: Must have one of the following: A minimum of Master's degree in Chemistry. A minimum of a Master's degree in a related field, including but not limited to Biology, Physiology, Molecular Biology, Physics, Geology, Pharmacology, Microbiology with at least eighteen (18) graduate credits in Chemistry.Occupational Experience Required: NonePreferred Experience: Two (2) years of post-secondary teaching experience.Essential Functions:Ability to work one-on-one with students in the classroom and traditional laboratory environments preferred.Experience in innovative delivery strategies in instruction in Chemistry, including alternative delivery courses (i.e., Internet) and course management (i.e., Blackboard), is preferred. Experience in proposal development and grant writing is preferred.Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively through both oral and written means. Must have knowledge of assessment of student academic achievement techniques. Supplemental InformationStart Date: This position supports the STEM Pathway and is available to start in fall 2026 semester. Hours: This is a part-time faculty pool position. This is an "applicant pool" posting. Assignments are temporary, not guaranteed, can vary in hours/days, and will depend entirely on course availability and department needs each semester. All work must be performed in the state of Wisconsin. We are seeking candidates with flexibility to teach assignments to include any combination of the following:Instructional Modality: In-person, online, and/or hybridTeaching Times: Daytime, evening, and/or weekend classesSalary: The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. Employee Benefits at a Glance - PART-TIME FACULTY/EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT- Part-time employees pay a higher percentage of the premium than full-time employees. HEALTH INSURANCE: MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types: 1- UMR High Level PPO 2- UMR Low Level PPONote: All medical plans include Prescription Drug benefits at no additional costs to employees.DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death. RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave is earned based on one times the weekly workload per semester.
