Apply NowJob Description
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills As the Application Development Lead for Network Planning, you will architect and build the software ecosystem that powers Verizon's 5G design strategy. You will bridge the gap between Radio Frequency (RF) Engineering and Software Development, creating custom applications, APIs, and data pipelines. Your tools will automate the issuance of search rings, visualize complex coverage data (GIS), and streamline the flow of data between propagation tools (like Atoll/Planet) and site acquisition databases. Roles & Responsibilities 1. Software Design & Development * Tool Creation: Design and develop full-stack web applications used by RF Engineers for site selection, capacity planning, and regulatory compliance. * Automation: Build Python scripts and microservices to automate repetitive tasks, such as generating "Search Rings" or parsing drive-test data logs. * Integration: Create RESTful APIs to connect disparate network systems (e.g., linking the Asset Database with the RF Planning Tool and the Real Estate management system). 2. GIS & Spatial Data Management * Geospatial Engineering: Implement advanced GIS solutions (using PostGIS, Mapbox, or ArcGIS) to visualize network coverage, fiber routes, and demographic data on a single pane of glass. * Data Pipelines: Architect ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to ingest massive datasets (terabytes of network performance data) into usable formats for planning models. 3. Product Management & Strategy * Stakeholder Collaboration: Sit with RF Directors and Engineers to understand their pain points ("It takes too long to approve a candidate") and translate those needs into technical software requirements. * Roadmap Ownership: Define the feature roadmap for internal planning tools, prioritizing updates based on business value (e.g., prioritizing C-Band planning features). 4. System Reliability & DevOps * Maintain the CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab) to ensure rapid and safe deployment of tool updates. * Ensure application scalability on the cloud (AWS or Verizon Cloud Platform) to handle heavy computational loads during propagation model runs. * Experience working with FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) for spatial data conversion. * Knowledge of Machine Learning (ML) to predict network hotspots or automate site candidate selection. * Familiarity with 3D Mapping technologies (Digital Twin) for mmWave urban planning. * Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. * Experience: 10+ years in software development, with specific experience in the Telecommunications or GIS domains. Education B.Tech or Any Telecom Degree Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 a year #LI-JH1
