Address:855 South Dubuque St, Iowa City, Iowa, 52240Salary Range (Min-Mid)$31.44 - $37.73Dept./Office/Position TypePublic Health - ProfessionalEmployee TypeRegularJob DescriptionDEFINITION AND DUTIES:Under general supervision, coordinate Johnson County Public Health's (JCPH) emergency preparedness planning efforts, assist in the response to public health emergencies and disaster recovery efforts by assisting the Community Health Division Manager in emergency preparedness duties, while developing and implementing emergency preparedness plans and protocols for JCPH. Master's degree preferred.Special requirements: Must have completed and possess FEMA certificates IS-100, 200, 700, 800, and 2200. Completion of advanced FEMA Incident Command Structure (ICS) courses such as ICS 300, 400 in order to assume leadership role in emergency response and L0146 HSEEP course within one year of hireValid driver's license and insurable under county liability coverage. May require use of private vehicle for official business. Must pass background check.SPECIFIC DUTIES: to be performed satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.Write, review, implement, and evaluate public health emergency preparedness plans.Maintain up-to-date public health emergency preparedness protocols and addendums to the County's all-hazards emergency operations plan.Work directly with the Community Health Division Manager to develop preparedness and response policy and procedures and oversee the implementation of those policies and procedures.Lead the Johnson County Medical Reserve Corps as Unit CoordinatorServe on the steering committee for the Johnson County Community Organizations Active in DisasterEnsure appropriate training is provided to public health staff in emergency preparedness and disaster recovery efforts, including required ICS training courses, and tracking successful completion of required courses.Coordinate and ensure required training, drills, and exercises are conducted.Lead meetings and ensure hot washes, lessons learned, and After-Action Reports are completed for drills, exercises and real events.Develop effective external communications through various forms of media to support departmental strategiesSeek, propose, develop, and implement emergency preparedness and disaster recovery funding proposals for program advancementCoordinate public health disaster response and recovery effortsRepresent JCPH on local, state, and regional coalitions and committees to include but not limited to: Service Area 5, Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD), Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), highly consequential infectious disease committee (as needed), and the Region 7 Medical Reserve Corps (MRC).Coordinate and foster the development of community partnerships for the purposes of emergency preparedness through project development, information sharing, conducting exercises, and overall emergency preparedness activitiesConduct outreach to underserved populations for emergency preparedness, planning, mitigation, and response through culturally appropriate methods and health equity best practicesProvide information to individuals and the public about how to prepare and plan for public health emergencies.Assist with the development and implementation of strategic planning and accreditation as it relates to emergency preparedness.Assist with development of university undergraduate and graduate students completing internships and practicum experiences at JCPH.Represent Johnson County and attend work-related meetings and trainings as required.Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with County policies, procedures, and safety practices.Attend work regularly at the designated place and time.Supplemental DescriptionResume and cover letter must be attached to online applicationCompensation Grade08
