Job Title:CAD Technician ILocation: Hammond, INFLSA Classification:Non-exemptJob Description:Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a CAD Technician I to support our Natural Gas Distribution group in our Hammond, IN office. The CAD Technician I is an entry-level role focusing on developing foundational skills in drafting and Computer-Aided Design (CAD). This position supports the Natural Gas design team by producing accurate technical drawings and maintaining project documentation. Familiarity with the natural gas industry is helpful but not required.Essential Functions:Drafting and Design Support:Prepare technical drawings, including piping layouts, general arrangements, and diagrams, under the supervision of senior staff.Update and modify existing drawings to reflect project changes.Ensure all drawings comply with company and client standards.Documentation and Recordkeeping:Maintain organized project files and documentation.Accurately transcribe field data and notes into CAD systems.Assist in preparing deliverables for project submittals.Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with designers and engineers to meet drafting and project requirements.Communicate effectively with team members to clarify drafting needs and resolve issues.Other DutiesPlease note that this job posting does not list all duties and responsibilities that are required of this job. Duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without noticeQualifications:High School Diploma or GED required; enrollment in or completion of a technical trade program is a plus.Basic knowledge of CAD software, such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D.Familiarity with drafting practices in industrial or utility projects is a plus.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Effective written and verbal communication skills.This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.Location Note:This is an in-office or hybrid position.
