Join our team of seasoned professionals and become a part of the fabric of the New York food sceneRole Overview: The Picking Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing daily order picking operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and quality standards consistent with Citarella Gourmet's premium brand. This role provides hands-on leadership to picking associates, ensures adherence to food safety and company standards, and supports on-time fulfillment for retail and customer orders.Responsibilities & Duties: Lead and coordinate picking operations to ensure accurate, efficient order fulfillmentSupervise, train, and support picking associates; serve as primary floor contactMonitor workload and reallocate labor to meet volume and productivity demandsEnsure proper handling of perishable, gourmet, and specialty food itemsConduct quality checks to maintain accuracy, presentation, and food safety standardsTrack productivity, accuracy, and completion metrics; coach team to meet KPIsEnforce safety, sanitation, and equipment compliance in all picking areasCoordinate with packing, shipping, and receiving teams to maintain workflowCommunicate shift priorities, performance updates, and end-of-shift reports to leadershipImportant Disclaimer Notice: The described functions are among the essential job functions for this position, but are not exhaustive of the essential functions of the job or of the tasks that an Associate may be required to perform. Qualifications and Education Requirements• 1-3 years of warehouse, fulfillment, or food distribution experience• Prior lead, supervisor, or team coordinator experience preferred• Strong understanding of picking processes and inventory flow• Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced environment• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periodsPreferred• Experience with RF scanners or warehouse management systems• Food handling or food safety experience• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus• Experience working with perishable or specialty food productsAt Citarella, we value a diverse, inclusive workforce and we provide equal employment opportunity for all applicants and employees.
