Duties/ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll DoAs our new Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will:Monitor, maintain, repair, and replace heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems at all City facilities to ensure they operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations.Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on park structures, municipal buildings, and facility infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and sports lighting systems.Troubleshoot and/or inspect park and facility issues related to structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical system malfunctions or defects.Repair or replace facility appliances, ensuring systems are functioning properly and safely.Coordinate and maintain building alarm monitoring systems, security systems, and facility access control systems to support safe and secure operations.Monitor facility pest control needs.Assist with facility improvement projects, including reconfigurations and large scale repairs and replacements.Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, or code compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.Coordinate with, monitor, and assist City contractors and service providers performing maintenance, repair, or improvement work to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with City standards and contract requirements.Follow all applicable safety procedures, building codes, environmental regulations, and occupational safety standards, maintaining a safe working environment for staff and the public.What We're Looking ForSomeone who:Has knowledge of building systems, construction equipment, maintenance techniques, and general facility repair practices.Has the ability to perform a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled maintenance tasks, including building maintenance, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and related trades.Understands or is willing to learn workplace safety procedures, regulatory compliance requirements, and proper use of maintenance equipment and tools.Can effectively coordinate and communicate with contractors, vendors, and City staff to ensure maintenance and repair work is completed properly.Is proactive, enjoys solving problems, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by specialized training in construction and maintenance work.Experience: Two (2) years of relevant experience in one of the skilled building trades including electrical, plumbing, and/or HVAC system maintenance and repair.Licenses and Certifications:Possession of a valid California Driver's License, to be maintained throughout employment.Possession of, or successful acquisition within twelve (12) months of appointment, a valid Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and CPR/First Aid Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment.Possession of, or successful acquisition within twelve (12) months of appointment, a valid Aerial Scissor Lift Operator Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment.Possession of, or successful acquisition within twelve (12) months of appointment, a valid Bloodborne Pathogens Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment.
