Join our team and help shape the future of a city that's committed to creating a thriving environment for all.About the Role: The Deputy Marshal I provides law enforcement and protective services to ensure public safety and uphold State laws and City ordinances. This position focuses on general duties and traffic enforcement, working to maintain order and foster community compliance. Reporting to the Deputy Marshal II and under the direction of the Chief City Marshal, the Deputy Marshal I is essential in supporting the City's mission to create a safe and law-abiding environment for all residents.Minimum Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. TCOLE Peace Officer license required. At least one year of law enforcement service Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. A valid driver's license. Essential Job Functions:Performs administrative functions under the direction of the Chief City Marshal to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws/ordinances and TCOLE requirements to include preparing and updating reports in related duties as assignedProvides security service and surveillance to assigned City facilities and assist with prisoners transports to/from other agencies.Specifically, may serve as a bailiff to the Municipal Court, and serve misdemeanor warrants, subpoenas, summons, and other writs as directed by Court throughout the entire region as assigned.Issues citations, apprehending and arresting offenders and assisting other departments/divisions with issuing violations and enforcing City ordinances. Responds to from other departments and City representatives as needed Performs other related duties as assigned. Physical Demands/Work Environment: The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull greater than 100 pounds, and may require infrequent lifting of greater than 100 pounds. This position is exposed to extreme elements including extreme heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, noise intensity level, moving mechanical parts/hazards, dirt/dust, and odors. Continuous outdoor and indoor activity, frequent sitting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting upper body, climbing, exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, mechanical hazards, fume/odor hazards, toxic waste/material hazards, etiological agents, violent situations, and communicable diseases. Possibility of exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals, materials and inclement weather while in the field. Constant use of protective personnel equipment including but not limited to footwear, eyewear, and use of reflective clothing is required. Working with a wide variety of people. Working as a law enforcement officer and ability to safely use a firearm and other defensive weapons. May be called upon to take enforcement action including arrest and detention of dangerous and uncooperative persons.E.E.O.C.
