Position DescriptionJoin a high-performing team that is going for a home run!The shift leader will perform all multi-craft maintenance technician responsibilities including safely performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment to support the achievement of Copperweld's business goals and objectives; however, the shift leader will also ensure all necessary documentation is complete, be the technical resource for maintenance and champion:Shift work executionFailure reporting and root cause analysisCommunication across shiftsContinuous improvement activitiesWHAT we need you to do.Proven preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on AC/DC motors, pumps, sumps, gearboxes, hydraulic units, analog/digital drives, lift trucks, machinery and industrial equipmentDemonstrated ability to safely disassemble equipment, recommend replacement parts and reassemble equipment; makes sound judgments on when to replace partsProven experience in hydraulics and pneumatics; understanding fluid powerWelding and ability to fabricate machine parts from drawings for equipment repairs preferredDemonstrated ability to use measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.) and electrical equipment (amp meter, ohmmeter, megger, voltmeter and other basic electrical tools)Reads and interprets wiring diagrams, schematics, ladder logic and electrical specificationsDemonstrated working knowledge of electrical standards and codes with skills installing single and three phase wiringUnderstand AC, DC and variable frequency drives and how each functions; troubleshoots to determine root cause of malfunctionSound Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) knowledge; ability to troubleshoot, create and modify programs preferredCapable of performing replacement drive installationsAbility to understand and complete Auto CAD drawings a plusHave an understanding of Reliability PrinciplesKnowledge of Predictive Technology and MeasuresParticipate in Failure Reporting and Root Cause AnalysisWHAT you need to possess.Experience in a maintenance or industrial environment preferredWorking knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; troubleshooting and repair experience strongly preferredAbility to operate and interpret diagnostic tools, precision measurement instruments, and maintenance equipmentStrong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and maintenance management systems (CMMS preferred)Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutionsDemonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and manage maintenance activities and schedulesSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead a team with minimal supervisionStrong attention to detail with sound decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environmentAbility to train, support, and provide direction to maintenance team membersOther duties as assignedSafety RequirementsMust wear safety shoes with steel toe and metatarsal guard, safety glasses with side shields and ear protectionMust be able to stand for extended periods of time, meet physical job demands including light to medium lifting, pushing and pulling weight requirements, bending, crouching, kneeling, stooping, twisting, reaching, etc.Must understand, work and at all times be aware of potential mechanical and electrical hazards and safeguard against such hazardsMust understand and comply with Hazard Communication and Hazardous Waste management guidelinesPhysical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.Why Copperweld?Strong business outlookComprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision plansPaid Time Off & 10 paid holidays401(k) with company matchCompany-paid Life & AD&D InsuranceCompany-paid Short-Term & Long-Term Disability InsuranceEducation Assistance ProgramGreat Place to Work Certified Copperweld is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
