JOB SUMMARYThe Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Front-End Revenue Cycle provides strategic leadership for all centralized front-end revenue cycle functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals for patient access, registration, insurance verification, authorization, and financial counseling. The AVP collaborates closely with decentralized front-end teams to promote consistency, eliminate variation, and optimize workflows across the enterprise. This role requires a forward-thinking leader who actively leverages AI, automation, and advanced analytics to streamline processes, reduce administrative burden, and improve operational efficiency. The AVP is responsible for staying current with Epic enhancements and driving the successful adoption of new capabilities that strengthen patient access, accuracy, and throughput. In addition, the AVP champions an exceptional patient financial experience, leads regulatory and compliance readiness, and supports workforce development through continuous learning and innovation in digital engagement. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONRequiredEducationBachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field Experience7 years of progressively responsible experience in revenue cycle operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role PreferredEducationMaster's Degree in a related field Experience10 years of progressively responsible experience in revenue cycle operations JOB DUTIESOperational LeadershipDirect centralized front-end revenue cycle functions, including scheduling, registration, insurance verification, authorization and pre-service financial clearance.Partner with non-centralized front-end teams to ensure seamless integration and adherence to best practices.Lead initiatives to enhance the patient financial experience, including digital self-service tools, transparent estimates, and flexible payment plans.Strategic InnovationIdentify and implement AI and automation opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual processes.Evaluate and adopt Epic system enhancements to optimize front-end operations.Evaluate, select, and manage vendor partnerships to support automation, eligibility, and patient engagement.Collaboration & GovernanceWork closely with clinical, IT, and financial leaders to align front-end processes with organizational objectives.Develop policies and procedures that support compliance, accuracy, and patient satisfaction.Lead structured change management and communication efforts for new technology and process initiatives, ensuring effective adoption across all stakeholder groups.Performance ManagementMonitor and improve key performance indicators, including:Correct Coverage Rate - Ensure accurate insurance coverage identification and verification.Appointment Prior Authorization Rate - Optimize processes to secure prior authorizations before scheduled appointments.Estimate Accuracy - Drive precision in patient financial estimates to enhance transparency and trust.Authorization Denial Rate - Reduce denials related to missing or incorrect prior authorizations.Registration/Eligibility Denials Rate - Minimize denials caused by registration or eligibility errors.Lead initiatives to analyze and address root causes of front-end denials, collaborating with clinical and back-end teams to drive sustainable improvements.Leverage advanced analytics and reporting tools to monitor trends, forecast challenges, and drive continuous improvement.Regulatory & Compliance LeadershipMonitor and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g., price transparency, No Surprises Act) impacting front-end revenue cycle operations.Technology & Innovation LeadershipChampion AI literacy within the team and promote a culture of innovation.Evaluate emerging technologies and vendor solutions for front-end revenue cycle optimization.Workforce Development & Succession PlanningDevelop and mentor front-end revenue cycle leaders, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and succession planning.SECURITY AND EEO STATEMENTSecurityThis position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.EEOUT Southwestern Medical Center is committed to an educational and working environment that provides equal opportunity to all members of the University community.
