Job DescriptionJohnson Health Tech (JHT) is expanding its hearing technology innovation efforts and is hiring an Electrical Engineering Manager to help shape the next generation of hearing device platforms.This role sits within JHT's global R&D organization and plays a critical part in advancing electrical architecture, embedded systems, and hardware performance across hearing initiatives. In close collaboration with SyncLync and other strategic business units, this leader will help build scalable, forward-thinking technology that drives the industry forward.This is a high-impact engineering leadership role focused on innovation, technical rigor, and long-term platform development.Position Overview:Reporting directly to the Vice President of R&D, the Electrical Engineering Manager will lead the electrical engineering function for hearing device development programs.They will translate product requirements into detailed technical execution plans, drive system architecture decisions, and guide projects from early concept through validation and production. This role partners daily with product marketing, audiology, industrial design, quality, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure designs meet performance, regulatory, cost, and timeline objectives.The ideal candidate combines strong hardware expertise with strategic thinking, challenging conventional design approaches while delivering reliable, manufacturable solutions.Key Responsibilities:Technical Leadership & ArchitectureLead electrical engineering design and development of advanced hearing device systemsTranslate product requirements into detailed technical roadmaps and execution plansDrive architecture decisions across analog/digital hardware, embedded systems, and wireless communicationEnsure designs meet performance, regulatory, manufacturability, and end-use standardsEvaluate emerging technologies and patents to inform product strategyInnovation & Industry AdvancementChallenge legacy design assumptions in hearing device architectureIdentify opportunities for performance optimization, miniaturization, and system integrationBalance breakthrough innovation with practical production realitiesContribute to long-term platform strategy across hearing product linesTeam & Organizational LeadershipRecruit, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering talentProvide clear technical direction and remove development roadblocksFoster a culture of ownership, accountability, and curiosityCoach engineers to deliver high-quality results within structured development processesProject & Cross-Functional ExecutionLead multiple projects through structured phase-gate developmentManage timelines, resources, and engineering budgetsPartner daily with global teams across R&D, marketing, suppliers, manufacturing, and qualitySupport production through design reviews, test data analysis, and continuous improvement initiativesRequirements:EducationBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (required)Advanced engineering degree preferredExperience10+ years of electrical hardware design experience5+ years of demonstrated technical leadership5+ years leading complex electrical hardware or embedded system development projectsExperience interpreting patents and evaluating technical IPWorking knowledge of hearing aid architecture strongly preferredTechnical ExpertiseAnalog and digital hardware designEmbedded systems and microcontrollersWireless and digital communication protocolsSystem-level integration across hardware and firmwareExperience supporting products through manufacturing and productionLeadership & MindsetPassionate about product development and innovationEntrepreneurial thinker within a structured R&D environmentVisionary yet grounded in executionComfortable operating in ambiguityStrong cross-functional communicatorWilling to challenge norms while building consensusAdditional DetailsBased in Cottage Grove, WIReports directly to JHT VP of R&DAbility to travel domestically and internationally (~4x per year)Willing to collaborate across global time zonesBenefits:Health & Dental InsuranceCompany paid Life Insurance401(k)Paid Time Off benefitsProduct discountsWellness programsRelocation Assistance
