The Executive Director (ED), or Head of School, is the chief strategist and visionary leader responsible for institutional health, long-term sustainability, growth, operations, personnel, and compliance, reporting to the Board. The ED models a culture of respect and professionalism, safeguards the Montessori mission, ensures transparent leadership, engages the community, and provides curriculum oversight. Responsibilities include maintaining ~95% enrollment, managing rosters and waitlists, overseeing admissions and marketing, and leading staff hiring, evaluation, and accountability. The ED directs financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, fundraising, and operations. They ensure regulatory compliance, accurate records, training, and agency relations. The ED advises the Board, attends meetings, communicates policies, and supports governance and strategic initiatives. Qualifications: Must hold Colorado Large Center Director Qualification. Preferred Montessori credential (AMI/AMS/MACTE). 5-10 years Montessori experience, including leadership. Strong leadership, able to motivate and supervise staff. Deep knowledge of Montessori or plan to gain it. Excellent organization and communication skills. Detail-oriented, collaborative with staff and families, and able to exercise sound judgment in high-stakes situations.
