Tool Maker (Bench)ClassificationNon-exemptReports toBench SupervisorDate3/11/2021JOB DESCRIPTION (Roles, Responsibilities, and Expectations)Summary/Objective Assembles, inspects, cleans, repairs, and reassembles plastic injection molds according to work instructions. Build new plastic injection molds and prototypes.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Responsible for following Work Instructions for each mold. Responsible for completing all necessary paperwork for each mold (example: incoming check in sheet, out going check out sheet, etc.) Troubleshoot tooling problems by reading and inspecting blueprints and discussing with Project Manager or Supervisor. Assemble plastic injection molds. Clean plastic injection molds. Repair plastic injection molds. Build fixtures and assembly equipment according to prints. Provides instruction and guidance to apprentices. Maintain clean work areaCompetencies Communication Proficiency. Teamwork. Customer/Client Focus. Flexibility. Attention to detailSupervisory ResponsibilityThis is a support position.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a manufacturing environment.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Must be able to stand and walk for full shift. Able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to reach and stretch with arms and hands. Twisting and bending required. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close inspection identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgement, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkAssigned work days are Monday thru Friday and scheduled hours are per scheduled shift. Weekends as needed.TravelNo travel requirements.Required Education High School Diploma or Equivalent.Preferred Experience Minimum of 3 years recent experience as a tool maker. Moderate computer skills. Ability to perform basic math Ability to interrupt customer specifications. Ability to use various gages and fixtures. Good organizational and interpersonal skills. Superior analytical skills combined with impeccable business judgement. Ability to manage multiple jobs in a highly energized and fast paced environment within a framework of constantly shifting deadlines and deliverables. Requires minimal supervision. Self-motivated with the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities.
