JOB TITLE: Student Support CoordinatorREPORTS TO: Assistant Principal of Students or Dean of CultureBe a LEADer:Prepare our students for college and life by believing in their potential to achieve at high levels. Go above and beyond to meet their needs, preparing them for success in academics and beyond.JOB OVERVIEW:The Student Support Coordinator (SSC) plays a critical role in fostering a respectful and positive campus environment. By working collaboratively with students, families, and teachers, the SSC provides hands-on behavioral and emotional support to students, while empowering teachers with effective strategies to manage classroom behavior. SSCs are instrumental in implementing proactive and responsive student services to enhance academic, social, and emotional development.MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:1. Student Behavioral Support:Teach students self-regulation skills to maximize instructional time and promote positive behavior.Manage a caseload of students through mentorship, check-ins, small groups, classroom observations, and other tailored supports.Design and implement unique, individualized consequences in collaboration with students, families, and teachers to address behavioral needs.Refer students to additional services/supports, such as counseling, therapy, S-Team, or external programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS).Provide real-time behavior support, including in-class or at-the-door interventions, to maintain a productive learning environment.Facilitate reflective conversations to help students take responsibility for their actions and practice appropriate responses.Document all behavioral supports and assign follow-ups for teachers and administrators to ensure accountability.Anticipate and de-escalate potential behavior challenges by maintaining a visible presence in hallways, classrooms, and during transitions, arrival/dismissal, and lunch periods.2. Collaboration with School Staff:Participate in collaborative learning sessions, grade-level team meetings, and cross-content planning to promote a cohesive student culture.Communicate with teachers after behavioral incidents to provide updates, facilitate repair conversations, and offer coaching or intervention strategies.Share feedback and behavior-related data with Grade Level Team (GLT) teachers to support student growth initiatives.Analyze student progress through behavior data and collaborate with team members to plan interventions and drive positive outcomes.3. Data-Driven Decision-Making:Consult academic, attendance, and behavior data when planning interventions and determining next steps for discipline.Develop and maintain a tracking system to aggregate behavior data for students on the SSC's caseload (e.g., mentees, athletes, behavior groups).Collaborate with teachers and Exceptional Education Instructional Managers to determine effective responses for students with disabilities.Integrate academic and behavioral data into interventions and family communications to create a holistic approach to student development.QUALIFICATIONS:Experience:Minimum of two years working with students is required; two years of teaching experience is preferred.Previous experience with diverse student populations or in an urban school setting is strongly preferred.Experience developing or implementing individualized student plans under programs such as RTI, 504, or S-Team is ideal.Education:Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.Key Attributes:Passionate about supporting students and fostering a positive school culture.Flexible, adaptable, and willing to take on challenges in a dynamic school environment.Coachable and eager to grow as an educator and team member.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and maintain effective communication with students, families, and staff.CompensationThis is a full-time, exempt position.
